Benjamin parts the wet brush and leads the others onto a small clearing. Ahead, a weathered cabin sags under moss and rain, its porch half-swallowed by roots.
The open door hangs crooked on one hinge, creaking with every draft. Inside, stale wood, mildew, and old smoke leak out into the cool air.

Jenny
That is better than sleeping in the dirt.

Louis
And a lot less exposed. I like it already.
Benjamin steps onto the porch first, bat in one hand, rifle in the other, scanning the dark room beyond the threshold.
Dust motes drift through the slanting light. A splintered table, a sagging chair, and a torn pantry shelf promise a dry place to sort rations and keep training.

Jenny
Set the food inside. I will watch the trees from here.
✓ Quest Accepted
Shelter the group in the cabin
“I step inside to clear the corners and check for any hidden threats.”
SUCCESS (Superb Perception, rolled -2)

Benjamin slips through the doorway, keeping his bat high as his eyes sweep the cabin floor.
He checks the left corner first, then the right, pausing at the shadows under the table and beside the pantry shelf.
Nothing moves. Just damp boards, old dust, and a cracked lantern with no fuel.

Jenny
Clear?

Louis
The room is empty. For now.
Benjamin reaches the back wall and finds the windows intact, the latch on the side door still holding.
The cabin is bare, but it is sealed enough to work with.

Jenny
Then get the supplies in here before the light goes.
