Towards Safety. Towards Hope.

Three masked raiders step out of the treeline, weapons up, boots crunching on the dusk-soaked grass. Their flashlights stab across the porch and the barricaded front door.

Inside, Julian goes rigid in his chair. Jenny tightens her grip, eyes fixed on Benjamin, waiting for the call.

The raiders fan out toward the porch, trying to look bolder than they are. One keeps his rifle trained on the windows while another glances at the yard, measuring distance and cover.

The leader flinches at Benjamin's voice, then hardens again. Behind the barricade, the house feels smaller, tighter, one bad choice away from a breach. The radio and the food suddenly matter as much as the boards on the door.

Jenny snaps her aim up from Benjamin to the porch in one sharp motion, as if she was waiting for that exact sentence.

The rifle cracks into the dusk. The Raider Leader jerks back hard, his flashlight spinning off the porch rail and tumbling into the grass.

One raider ducks behind the steps. The other freezes in the yard, suddenly more interested in cover than intimidation.

Inside, Julian flinches at the shot but stays low. The barricade holds, and the porch goes briefly quiet except for a dropping rifle and quick, panicked footsteps retreating into the dark.

Jenny keeps her weapon trained on the porch, waiting for Benjamin's next call as the wounded leader stumbles out of view.

Benjamin lunges to the porch threshold and hauls the dropped rifle by its strap, dragging it over splintered wood and into the foyer.

The weapon skids past the barricade with a dry scrape, and he plants a foot on it before it can slide back out.

Outside, one raider shoves low through the steps, but the other keeps backing away from the porch light, hands half-raised as if the yard itself has turned on him.

Benjamin braces the rifle against the barricade and sights through the porch light glare.

The shot cracks out, and the raider by the light jerks hard, collapsing into the wet grass beside the dropped flashlight.

The shout cuts off as the wounded leader scrambles backward off the steps, dragging the others with him in blind panic.

Inside, Julian flinches at the blast, then stays low as the porch goes suddenly still except for the wind and a rolling magazine on the boards.

Benjamin keeps the rifle trained on the yard, and the retreating shapes vanish past the treeline, leaving the porch light swinging over the fallen raider.
