At Arnold's signal, the Hurter cutters flare their flags and the harbor answers like a snapped net. The Fun Police blockade wobbles, caught between herding shot and the wrong tide of warships.

Captain Arnold Runner watches Funbain's ship lose its clean line. The marked route has led him here, straight into a snare of his own making.

Then the Grizzly Bones arrive, blunt as winter. Their warships do not chase the Fun Police vessel, they board it, fast and silent, as if correcting a clerical error.

The Hurter Scout

Now there’s a tidy correction, Captain. Your bait has brought the right beasts to the right doorstep.

Master Beltran

No one said the bears would be the paperwork.

On the Fun Police deck, officers shout and wheel away from the rails while bear boarding hooks bite wood. The tracking network is no longer hidden, it is exposed by the very ships it was meant to steer.

Captain Arnold Runner

Funbain's trail is visible now.

The harbor quiets just enough for Arnold to see the opening. If he presses now, the blockade breaks, Funbain gets pinned, and the coins lead back to whoever built this chain.

Arnold snaps the order down the deck, and the Wild Ones surge into motion. Canvas bellies out, lines hiss, and the ship heels into the channel with its bow slicing toward Funbain's hull.

The gun crew rams chain shot home. A beat later, the port battery kicks, and the linked iron tears across Funbain's rigging, snapping a foreyard and whipping sailcloth into tatters.

Captain Funbain

Captain Funbain

Boarders, to the rail! Keep him from lining up another pass!

The shot works, but the recoil bites back. A gun carriage jumps its wedge and cracks a deckhand's shin as the ship lurches through the spray.

The Hurter Scout

The Hurter Scout

That line is broken, Captain. Funbain's pinned where the bears can reach him.

Master Beltran

Master Beltran

He'll use the bears to bury me if I stand here much longer.

Below Arnold's ledgers, the Quartermaster's confession page flaps against his thumb, ink-dark and ready. Ahead, Funbain staggers under ruined rigging, and the Grizzly Bones press in for the kill, leaving Arnold one clean opening and a fresh fight over who owns the water.

Captain Arnold Runner’s order snaps the deck into a new shape. The boarders answer at once, hooks swinging free, boots already striking for the rail.

The Grizzly Bones Boarder

The Grizzly Bones Boarder

Now, lads, over the side! Take their deck while they’re crooked!

The boarding line hisses tight. Grizzly Bones men pour across it, and the Fun Police rail buckles under their weight.

Captain Funbain

Captain Funbain

Hold them off! Do not let Runner turn this into a rout!

Below the quarterdeck, the Quartermaster slaps the confession page flat against his ledger, ink already waiting for the next name. Beltran sees it and blanches.

Master Beltran

Master Beltran

If that page gets filled, I’m finished.

The Hurter Scout points through the churned spray toward the channel mouths, where his list of harbors is no longer a rumor but a route. The trap has teeth now, and Funbain’s ship is not the only thing surrounded.

Arnold rushes Funbain personally for a close quarters swordfight. He will attempt to wound Funbain's sword arm rather than kill him outright.

Captain Arnold Runner breaks from the quarterdeck in a low, predatory rush, cutlass flashing up as he drives straight for Funbain’s exposed side. The Fun Police captain tries to reset his stance, but the buckled rail steals the space he needs.

Arnold slips inside the first check and rakes the blade across Funbain’s sword arm. The strike lands clean, sharp enough to draw blood and leave the weapon arm faltering.

Captain Funbain

Captain Funbain

Argh, Runner! Get off my deck!

Funbain jerks back, clutching the wounded arm, and his sword dips toward the planks. The boarders roar as the opening widens around him.

The Grizzly Bones Boarder

He’s cracked! Press him!

Below the rail, the Quartermaster squares the confession page against his ledger, ready to add Funbain’s name to the chain. Beltran sees the page and goes rigid with fear.

Master Beltran

Master Beltran

No, wait, if that gets written down, I’m done for.

The Hurter Scout keeps the harbor list raised toward the channel mouths, watching the trap close from three sides. Funbain staggers on the shattered deck, wounded but still in reach.

Arnold puts his sword to Funbain's throat "No, you get in my brig."

Captain Arnold Runner stops the blade at Funbain’s throat and the whole deck goes still. Funbain’s eyes flick to the cutlass edge, then to the boarded rail, and the fight drains out of his shoulders.

Captain Funbain

Captain Funbain

Enough. I yield.

Arnold turns the pressure of steel into motion, steering Funbain away from the broken rail. The Fun Police captain stumbles once, then keeps his feet as the boarders give him room.

The Grizzly Bones Boarder

The Grizzly Bones Boarder

Take him below!

The Quartermaster snaps the confession page flat and writes Funbain’s name with a hard stroke. Beltran sees the line go down and sags against the deck, trapped by the record he feared.

Master Beltran

Master Beltran

No, no, that’s not how this was meant to end...

The Hurter Scout lowers the harbor list and points it toward the channel mouths one last time, as if counting exits that are no longer useful. Funbain is marched toward the brig, weaponless and cornered by sea and signature alike.

Arnold shoots Beltran a raised eyebrow that's as threatening as it is questioning before locking up Funbain, then returning to see if Funbain's crew has given up with the arrest of their leader.

Captain Arnold Runner lets the look do the cutting. Beltran flinches under it, smaller by half, while Arnold’s attention snaps from the prisoner to the deck beyond.

The Fun Police crew has gone loose and uncertain. A few backs away from their fallen captain, but no one lunges, no one cheers, and no one reaches for a hidden order.

The Quartermaster

The Quartermaster

They are done, Captain. The board is theirs no longer.

The Quartermaster taps the confession page with the quill, then turns it so the fresh name and route marks can be seen. Beltran’s ears flatten at the sight of his own ruin in ink.

Master Beltran

Master Beltran

He knows. He knows everything.

The Hurter Scout lifts the harbor list again, checking the mouths of the channel with a soldier’s calm. The route chain is exposed, and the water around it has begun to clear.

Below the broken rail, the Grizzly Bones boarders tighten their hold on the prisoner and wait for Arnold’s next command, while the stunned Fun Police crew stays where it is, leaderless and watching.

Arnold shoots Beltran a raised eyebrow that's as threatening as it is questioning before locking up Funbain, then returning to see if Funbain's crew has given up with the arrest of their leader.

SUCCESS (Legendary Intrigue, rolled +0)

Arnold’s eyebrow lifts, sharp enough to feel like a blade laid flat. Beltran swallows, then looks away first, shame and fear fighting for the same space.

The Quartermaster lowers the confession page onto the ledger and pins it there with two fingers, as if the ink itself has weight. The written trail is no longer rumor, it is proof.

Arnold turns his gaze toward Funbain and the boarders tighten their grip. The prisoner stays down, fully secured, with no fight left in him.

Then Arnold scans the Fun Police crew. Their line has broken, shoulders sagging, weapons still sheathed, eyes fixed on their fallen captain instead of the pirate deck around them.

The Hurter Scout

The Hurter Scout

They are done here. No signal carries, no order answers.

The Scout folds the harbor list once, route by route, and tucks it against his chest. The chain is traced, the mouth of the trap wide open.

Across the deck, the Grizzly Bones boarders wait for the next order, watching Arnold as much as the prisoners. The crowd of lost Fun Police crew gives him a choice, claim the deck now or decide what to do with the men who had once guarded it.
