Tululu enters the new passage as the basin grinds aside behind them. The tunnel is narrow, ancient, and breathes cold damp air that tastes of iron and root-mold. Violet light from the chamber fades, replaced by a deeper darkness ahead.
The Earth Elemental steps in first, its glowing hands painting the walls with pale stone-light. Old chisels marks and buried runes appear in flashes, a road built long before the current seal. The floor slopes downward into the mountain's heart.

The Earth Elemental
This way. The path is older than the curse above us.
Behind Tululu, the chamber shudders once. Roots snap cleanly, and dust trickles from the ceiling, but the new opening stays firm. The others remain at the threshold, watching the dark swallow the way forward.

Valerius
If the sacrifice is buried anywhere, it is beyond that tunnel. We should follow at once.
The tunnel walls are carved, not natural.

Confront the source of the Shadow Throne curse
“Use my magical senses to search for the source.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Magic, rolled -1)

Tululu closes their eyes and lets the tunnel speak through their blood and runes. The stone answers first, then the old wound beneath it, cold as buried moonlight.
A thread of shadow pulls straight ahead, then drops through the floor itself, into the mountain's heart. The curse is not distant. It is below them, sealed under layers of root and rite.
Behind the basin, the hidden aperture yawns wider with a soft grind of ancient stone. Dust sifts down into the passage as the way fully opens.

Valerius
You feel it too, then. The seal is fed by a sacrifice still remembered by the rock.

The Caretaker
We go carefully. If the curse is waking, the passage will wake with it.

The Earth Elemental
The stone points downward. The heart of the mountain is calling.
The dark pull sharpens into direction, exact and undeniable. Whatever was sacrificed to keep the chamber closed waits in the depths, and the opened passage invites Tululu to decide whether to descend now.
“Ask the emissary what the sacrifice is?”
SUCCESS (Great Reasoning, rolled -1)

Tululu
What was sacrificed to keep this chamber closed?

Valerius
A living vow, bound into the stone. Not a body alone, but a name, a lineage, and the right to call the mountain kin.

The Caretaker
So that is why the seal still feels warm.

Valerius
They were given willingly, in hope the curse would starve below. The mountain remembers the offering, and the throne remembers the cost.

The Earth Elemental
The roots below are braided around the old promise. Break it wrong, and the seal bleeds.
The emissary lifts a hand toward the sloping dark, then lets it fall, as if the answer itself weighs on them. Dust slides in a thin veil between the runes, and the open passage waits in silence.

Valerius
If you wish, I can name who was taken, and what that choice cost this house.
