F slips into the grotto as the slope behind them tears loose. Ice rattles past the mouth and vanishes into the chasm. The cave swallows the wind at once, replacing it with damp stone and a thin, mineral smell.

Torin stumbles in after F, one hand pressed to his ribs, eyes wide at the dark. The grotto bends inward, narrow at first, then opening into a hidden chamber where pale lichen frets across the walls like stars.

No one should be down here. Not unless they know the mountain.
A cold draft breathes from deeper inside, carrying a faint metallic chime. On the far wall, half-buried in frost, is a seam of worked stone, a door or seal cut by careful hands long ago.

That was not here before. I swear it.
The chamber settles around them, silent except for falling ice. The hidden door waits in the dim glow, and the mountain seems to listen.

Stop! It hates the light you are feeding it. Do you hear that? The mountain is waking up.
The lichen on the walls turns a sickly, jaundiced yellow. Beneath the worked stone, the ground begins to groan, and frost shatters outward from the door, spraying shards of ice across the floor.

We were not invited here. Run, or it will seal us inside forever.
The seam pulses, not with magic, but with an aggressive, grinding weight as the ceiling begins to lower, shedding tons of loose basalt.

Using a burst of speed, F drags the stumbling man toward the tunnel's opening.
As they clear the threshold, the ceiling slams down into the floor behind them with a deafening, bone-jarring crash.
