F leaves the inner chamber with the Ember Heart’s heat still prickling in the air behind them. Torches thin out into a narrow stair of wet stone, and the vault’s firelight fades to a dim red glow. Ahead, a round arch opens onto a new space, colder and older than the chamber below.
They step into a cramped transit vault, where shallow water slicks the floor and black roots press through the walls. A broken bronze basin sits in the center, filled with rainwater and ash. The air smells of mildew, soot, and something sweetly burnt.
