The archive doors bow harder against the barricade. Splinters rain over the ledger table as Tenda, Zero, Daisy, Rex, and the Elder With Lantern brace for the next удар.

The Elder With Lantern
That horn... it is the blood-oath cadence of my old order.
His lantern hand trembles. The old man finally looks up from the quivering wood, as if the sound has reached back through years of regret and found him here.

The Elder With Lantern
I know that signal. I served the father who taught it. The Warlord is his son.
The doors split with a crack like a whip. Dust and daylight spear into the room as the first figure forces through the breach, armor scraping splintered oak.
The Warlord steps into the archives and stops cold. His eyes lock on the Elder With Lantern with chilling recognition, and the room tightens around that shared past.

Survive the Warlord's assault on the archives
“I step between the Warlord and the Elder, my ki flaring to shield him. I look into the Warlords eyes and say, "I see now letting you live was a mistake. One I will not be making again!"”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +0)

Tenda steps cleanly into the gap between the Warlord and the Elder, his ki flaring bright enough to catch the dust in gold sparks. The old man falls in behind that living shield without another word.

Tenda Wildheart
I see now letting you live was a mistake. One I will not be making again!

The Warlord
You still mistake defiance for authority, boy.
The Warlord’s gaze flicks past Tenda to the Elder With Lantern, and the archives seem to shrink around that old wound. Daisy clamps the ledger and map to her chest, watching for a hand to lunge.

The Elder With Lantern
No. Look at him. He is not the father I served, and I am done hiding what I helped build.
The admission lands hard in the dusty silence. Zero shifts beside the shattered shelf, while Rex stays low and ready, his attention split between the doorway and the men’s faces.

The Warlord
Then say it plainly. Tell them how long you fed my father’s machine, old man.
Tenda’s numb arm tightens with the strain of holding the guard line, but his stance does not break. The Elder straightens behind him, exposed at last, and draws a shaking breath as if deciding whether truth will save him or condemn him.
“Elder, i think its time you just come out and say it. What is all of this about?”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Tenda Wildheart
Elder, I think it is time you say it plainly. What is all of this about?

The Elder With Lantern
...About cowardice, and the cost of surviving it.

The Elder With Lantern
I served the Warlord's father. I carried messages, opened doors, and told myself obedience was not the same as cruelty.

The Elder With Lantern
It was a lie. I helped feed the village to men who called it order, and I lived with the shame while others paid for my silence.

The Warlord
Finally. There you are, old man. Say the rest.

The Elder With Lantern
I saw your father bargain with fear and punish everyone who refused him. I watched his son inherit the same hunger.

Zero
Hmph. So that is the shape of it.

Daisy
His hands are shaking, but he keeps going.
“I press the Elder for the full truth”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -2)

Tenda holds the line and asks for the rest, plain and without mercy. The Elder With Lantern closes his eyes for one breath, then opens them to the room.

The Elder With Lantern
Your village was never the end of it. My ledgers named every family that could still speak, every witness, every child who heard the wrong thing.

The Elder With Lantern
I copied the lists. I hid them. Then I lied and called it protection while men like him came to erase what I had already sold them.

The Warlord
There. At last, you remember your place.
The Elder flinches, but keeps going. Tenda's arm trembles with numb pain beneath the strain of his guard, and a bead of blood slips from where the old injury reopens.

The Elder With Lantern
The primary base is the ledger vault beneath the old roadhouse at the canyon fork. I know the seal, the guard rotations, and the false wall they hide behind.

Daisy
Then we are not guessing anymore.
Zero shifts his stance toward the breach, Rex's lips peel back in a low snarl, and the Warlord stares at the Elder as if the last mask has finally fallen away.
“"Thats in the past Elder. You are a different person now. You care for the people in your village and want to do whats right." I look to the Warlord and say "You prayed on that history to manipulate this man and this village. You and me. Right now. All the strength we have. We fight until one of us is left standing!" I charge at the warlord.”
SUCCESS (Superb Hand-to-Hand Combat, rolled +0)

Tenda Wildheart
That is past. You care for your people now, and you know what is right.

Tenda Wildheart
You used that history to bend him, and this village. You and me, right now. We fight until one of us falls.
Tenda drops the guard line and bursts forward, his wounded arm burning as he cuts straight through the broken papers and dust.
The Warlord meets him with a hard step and a raised forearm, but Tenda’s ki snaps low, driving the opening shut before the strike can land clean.
He lands inside the breach, chest to chest with the Warlord, and drives him back from the doorway in a single explosive rush.
Zero shifts to cover the flank, Rex lunges toward the threshold, and Daisy freezes with the ledger in her hands as the room becomes a ring.
The Elder With Lantern staggers at the sight of the charge, while the Warlord steadies himself and bares his teeth for the duel.
“I use my good arm to pal strike his stomach. hoping to knock the wind out of him.”
FAILURE (Superb Hand-to-Hand Combat, rolled -2)

Tenda’s palm drives in, but the Warlord twists at the waist at the last heartbeat, and the strike skims across ribs instead of sinking into his gut.
The missed blow jars Tenda’s wounded forearm and steals his balance for an instant, while the Warlord folds around the opening and snaps a short forearm into Tenda’s chest.
Air leaves Tenda in a harsh grunt. He stumbles half a step back, boots skidding through papers, but he stays upright.

The Warlord
Still reaching for my breath, boy? You are already behind.
Zero shifts wider on the left, seeing the Warlord’s guard line up close. Rex lowers harder at the threshold, waiting for the first real break.

The Elder With Lantern
His stance is compact. He is baiting the next strike.
The Warlord’s elbow stays tight to his ribs, exposing a narrow seam under his right arm, the kind of opening only visible for a blink before he resets.
“I strike his exposed side with my good arm by chanelling my Ki into my hand making it extra sharp like a knife.”
SUCCESS (Superb Hand-to-Hand Combat, rolled +1)

Tenda turns the seam under the Warlord’s arm into a target. His good hand flashes in, edged with ki, and the strike lands sharp against the exposed side.
The Warlord’s torso jerks from the hit, breath breaking loose as his balance slips sideways. Papers burst up around his boots from the force.

The Warlord
Tch...
Zero’s head snaps toward the opening, but Tenda has already made it real, the hit driving the Warlord farther off line.
The Elder With Lantern sees the blow land and straightens behind Tenda, his lantern hand tightening as the truth of who stands before them hardens into the room.
Tenda’s numb forearm trembles, but he stays planted in the paper-strewn aisle while the Warlord reels at the doorway.
“I press the attack on the Warlord. I blitz him in a flurry of punches and kicks.”
SUCCESS (Superb Hand-to-Hand Combat, rolled +1)

Tenda drives in again, not to test the Warlord, but to overwhelm him. His good hand and both feet become a blur, snapping punches and kicks through the dust-choked air of the archive aisle.
The Warlord gives ground under the pressure, shoulders jolting as Tenda’s strikes keep finding seams in his guard. Scattered papers whirl between them like torn white fire.
Zero shifts with the rhythm of the exchange, ready to cut off any escape, while Rex prowls low at the edge of the fight, lips pulled back over sharp teeth.

The Elder With Lantern
His style is breaking the line. He is not fighting to trade. He is fighting to decide the room.
The Warlord’s back heel slams into the threshold stone as Tenda’s flurry lands again, forcing him fully out of the doorway and into the archive interior.
Behind Tenda, the Elder’s hard-won secret hangs in the open with nothing left to hide it. The question now is whether the others stand with him, or turn on him.
