Tenda drives the last of his ki through the road in one hard pulse. The broken front rank reels apart, boots skidding on wet stone, and the canyon opens ahead of him.
For one breath, the village path is clear. Then the Horn Bearer plants himself in the fog, horn still raised, and snaps a signal toward the rear.

Horn Bearer
Hold the road. Reinforcements, now.
The surviving soldiers hesitate, then drag themselves back into shape around their commander. Zero shifts into a fighting stance at Tenda's side, while Rex stalks low at the flank.

Zero
He is the spine of this mess. Break him, and the rest fold.
Daisy steadies the Elder With Lantern, who stares at the horn with a pale, rigid face. The old man's fear looks less like surprise now, and more like recognition.

The Elder With Lantern
That signal... the timing is all too exact.
Tenda squares to the Horn Bearer as the mist swallows the road behind him. The next strike is no longer just for the village, it is for the truth buried in the command line.
“I break the Horn Bearer now. I scream and shoot a Ki Shockwave at him!”
SUCCESS (Superb Hand-to-Hand Combat, rolled -3)

Tenda answers with a sharp ki blast that tears through the fog in a white line. The shockwave slams into the Horn Bearer’s chest and throws him backward, horn and signal cut off at once.

Horn Bearer
The line... breaks.
The commander crashes hard onto the stone, and the soldiers behind him flinch as if the order itself has been struck down.
But the force of the shot bites back through Tenda’s arm, leaving his striking hand numb and trembling from wrist to elbow.

Zero
That did it. Move!
Zero surges forward into the opening, Rex lunges low at the flank, and the nearest soldiers lose their shape for a heartbeat.

The Elder With Lantern
He cannot let them hear that horn again...
“I press the advantage before they regroup”
SUCCESS (Superb Hand-to-Hand Combat, rolled +1)

Tenda drives in through the opening, a short burst of footwork and shoulder pressure that catches the first soldier before he can square up. The line buckles wider.
His numb arm stays close to his side, but his other hand snaps out in a sharp palm strike, forcing another fighter back into his own boots.
Zero crashes in beside him, and the soldiers lose their spacing completely. Rex hurls himself at the edge of the formation, making the flank fold inward.

The Elder With Lantern
If they cannot reform, the village may yet be spared.
The Horn Bearer lies still on the stones, his dropped horn silent at last while the fog swallows the order he meant to give.
The front rank breaks and stumbles back down the road, leaving a clear lane above the village. The enemy horn from far below keeps pounding on, unanswered.
“I press on before they reform”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +1)

Tenda bursts through the widening gap before the soldiers can knit it shut, his footwork eating the road in a blur of dust and fog. The broken line gives way behind him.
Zero and Rex drive the last wavering fighters backward, and Tenda slips past their shoulders into the open lane above the village.
The enemy front stalls hard, with no one left in position to catch him. The clear path holds.

The Elder With Lantern
The road is open... keep moving!
Below them, the distant horn keeps pounding from the village road, unanswered, while the Horn Bearer lies silent on the stones.
Tenda reaches the crest beyond the broken line, forcing the village side of the road into view. The soldiers no longer control this stretch.
“I call for Zero to cover my advance”
SUCCESS (Fair Tactics, rolled +2)

Tenda Wildheart
Zero, cover my advance.

Zero
Gladly. Keep moving.
Zero slides into the lane Tenda has opened, shoulders squared toward the road below. His blade comes up as the last drifting soldiers hesitate in the fog, and he steals their attention in one hard line of steel.
Tenda takes the gap cleanly, cutting past the broken formation while Rex ranges ahead like a shadow with teeth. The village road drops into full view through the mist, and no enemy body blocks it now.

The Elder With Lantern
The road is ours, for the moment... but that horn keeps coming.
Below, the distant horn pounds on, stubborn and close enough to feel in the stones. The Horn Bearer stays down, but the command he gave still hangs over the canyon like smoke.
The Elder With Lantern lowers the lantern a fraction, then flinches at the sound from the village road. Above the open lane, Tenda reaches the crest with Zero holding the rear, and the path forward remains clear.
“I press toward the village road”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +0)
