The gold threads keep climbing the Minotaur. They crawl through the armor, then into flesh, as if the castle is stitching a weapon shut around a living body.

The Minotaur

The Minotaur

No... not a boon. A binding.

His battle axes jerk up in perfect unison. Not with choice, but with command. The light in his eyes matches the torches and the castle seems to breathe through him.

The Witness

The Witness

At last. A vessel that stands.

The Exiled Prince recoils as the Minotaur’s face goes blank, his huge frame locking into parade-still obedience. The darkness around the castle has found its shape.

Heilyn

Heilyn

The armor is the cage. The soldier is already gone.

Dax sees it plainly now, the golden harvest is not crowning the Minotaur. It is emptying him, turning him into the castle’s silent guard.

Thunder rolls from the corridor, but it is a man, not storm, pounding nearer. Dax catches the shape in the torchlight: Narbo, huge and hard-moving, sprinting straight toward the breach.

His boots hammer the stone. He barrels past the flaring torches, chest heaving, as if the hall itself is chasing him.

Narbo

Narbo

Out of the way! I bring warning!

The shout cracks across the chamber. The Exiled Prince flinches, and the Witness turns its attention toward the runner.

Heilyn

Heilyn

Narbo. So that is the thunder.

Narbo skids to a stop at the edge of the chamber, one shoulder twisted from the run, eyes fixed on the Witness and the bound Minotaur.

The Witness

The Witness

Another petitioner arrives.

The Minotaur does not move, but the gold in his armor pulses once, as if it recognizes the newcomer. Narbo’s haste costs him dearly, he is winded and bleeding from a scraped forearm, just as the hall falls silent around his next move.

Narbo slams his hammer to the ground, he says I bring warning as of now there is no turning back, this castle has you trapped and unless you can find the way to reach Talimaryl and defeat him you will never leave

Narbo drives the hammer down. Stone cracks with a flat, final sound, and the chamber snaps to him.

Narbo

Narbo

I bring warning. This castle traps you now. If you do not reach Talimaryl and defeat him, you never leave.

The Witness

The Witness

Talimaryl... the name settles into the breach like a key finding its lock.

The golden threads in the floor tremble, then tighten around the Minotaur's armor as if listening to the warning.

Heilyn

Heilyn

So the castle has a master, and the name changes everything.

The Exiled Prince goes rigid, eyes flicking from Narbo to the radiant sigil in the breach, measuring the trap with new fear.

Narbo stays planted over the shattered stone, breathing hard, his warning hanging in the torchlight as the hall waits for the next answer.

Dax crosses the fractured floor and plants himself before the Witness, shield low, sword steady. The chamber seems to hold its breath around him.

Dax

Dax

Show me the path to Talimaryl.

The Witness

The Witness

You ask for a road that cuts through a living vow. Then look.

The Witness opens one hand, and the radiant sigil in the breach spills a thin gold line across the ruined stone, pointing toward a dark seam beyond the dais.

The Minotaur

The Minotaur

No... not like this.

The golden threads snap taut, then burst apart in a spray of light as the Minotaur jerks free of the armor's hold. He slams one axe into the floor to keep his balance.

The Minotaur

The Minotaur

I am still here.

Heilyn shifts toward the freed warrior, and the Exiled Prince stares from the torchlit edge of the hall, wary of the new opening and the name it leads to.

Narbo says the witness is just a distraction Talimaryl has been watching all of you an learning your weaknesses

The Witness is only a mask. Talimaryl has been watching you all, learning where you bend.

The gold line on the floor trembles. The Witness does not advance, but the breach behind it dims a shade, as if the words strike somewhere deeper than stone.

The Witness

The Witness

A clever warning. Late, but clever.

Heilyn

Heilyn

So the castle was never the true eye. It is a lens.

The Minotaur straightens to full height, axes clenched, and the last scraps of golden binding fall from his armor like hot ash.

The Exiled Prince

The Exiled Prince

Then the road is a trap, and the thing waiting at the end already knows us.

From beyond the dark seam, a slow answering thrum rolls through the hall. The torches flare, and the sigil in the breach begins to turn.

Who is this Talimaryl

Dax

Who is Talimaryl?

Narbo

Narbo

A dragon warrior-mage, rich enough to buy armies, old enough to hide in plain sight. He feeds his hoard, and he feeds on what follows him.

Heilyn

Heilyn

So the pulse in the castle is not random. It has a master, and a mind behind it.

The Witness

The Witness

Talimaryl is the hand behind this binding. The castle is his net, and we are the catch.

The Exiled Prince

The Exiled Prince

Then every seal here points to him. Every vault, every lock, every lie.

Narbo

Narbo

Aye. And he knows you are here now. That is the cost of saying his name aloud.

The gold path on the floor brightens once, as if answering. The Minotaur tightens his grip on the axes, not in fear, but in grim recognition of a fight with a shape at last.

The minotaur takes a mighty swing and the witnesses head hits the floor

Dax steps in hard and fast, and the Minotaur swings with brutal certainty. The blow takes The Witness at the neck, and the radiant head drops cleanly from the breach to the shattered floor.

Gold sprays across the stone in bright threads, then gutters into sparks. The body in the opening lurches, its claim broken, while the torn sigil above it flickers like a wound that cannot decide whether to close.

The Witness

The Witness

Talimaryl...

The Minotaur stands over the falling light, axes still raised, chest heaving. The force of the swing jars his arms white-hot, but his grip holds.

Heilyn

Heilyn

The binding loosens. But the source still answers from beyond.

The Exiled Prince

The Exiled Prince

Then we have a path. Take it before the castle changes its mind.

The chamber shudders once as the gold path burns brighter, now pointing deeper into the castle. The fallen head rolls to a stop by Dax's boots, and the severed breach spills a thin, hungry light.

Robin, do you know what we are up against?

Robin Hood

Robin Hood

I do. Not the castle alone, but the thing wearing its patience. Talimaryl is a dragon warrior-mage, and he uses the halls like a snare.

Robin Hood

Robin Hood

The witness, the gold, the torches, all of it answers him. He is not waiting at the end of the road, he is listening through it.

Heilyn

Heilyn

That explains the seal's shape. This place is built to obey a single will.

The Exiled Prince

The Exiled Prince

Then we stop treating this as a corridor and start treating it as a throat.

The Minotaur

The Minotaur

Good. Let it choke on us.

Robin lowers his bow a fraction, eyes fixed on the brightening path. The torchlight stretches ahead like a live wire, and the gold dust on the floor trembles toward the deeper dark.

Then we take this beast down and free the castle. And we head down the corridor

The words land hard in the chamber. The gold path steadies, and the trembling dust on the floor draws into a clean line toward the deeper hall.

The Exiled Prince

The Exiled Prince

At last. Forward, before this place changes its mind.

Robin Hood

Robin Hood

Stay tight. If Talimaryl is listening, let him hear the whole company.

Heilyn

Heilyn

The route is open. The seal has accepted the challenge.

The Minotaur

The Minotaur

Good. I would rather meet a hunter than kneel as furniture.

The torches ahead flare in sequence, one after another, like a road waking up for them. Dax steps into the first stretch of the corridor, and the others fall in behind him.

From behind Narbo's tattoos start to glow he says we are getting close. And Talimaryl comes crashing in

Narbo slows mid-step, eyes narrowing at the corridor ahead. The black tattoos across his arms begin to glow like banked coals.

Narbo

Narbo

We are close. Very close.

Dax catches the shimmer at once, and the whole hall seems to listen. The torches farther on flare brighter, throwing long gold bars across the stone.

Then the air tears open above the path. Talimaryl crashes down in a storm of gilded scales and shattered dust, wings snapping wide as he lands between the burning torches and the company.

The Minotaur jerks back, gold threads shivering over his armor. Heilyn stiffens, one hand rising toward the light. The Exiled Prince recoils, staring at the dragon with naked dread.

Talimaryl

Talimaryl

So. You bring a hunter, a thief, and a broken guard to my hall.

A hot gust rolls over Dax as the dragon folds one wing and regards him from the torchline. The corridor behind Talimaryl glows shut, and the fight hangs on the next breath.
