Violet ash drifts over the dais as the sanctum falls hushed again. The pulse in Surazal’s veins answers a deeper hunger below the stone, and the path to the wilderness lies open behind him.

At the threshold, the Paladin stands with his sword lowered but not sheathed, his stance tight with grim purpose. He watches Surazal like a man measuring a storm he cannot stop.

Go, then. I will not die for this seal. But I will track what you carry.

The sanctum answers with a low, sickly tremor. The dark current gathers around Surazal’s chest, cold and sharp, as if something inside the stone recognizes its anchor.

You stand at the edge of becoming. Take me in, or let me take you.

The seal is still linked to the thing beneath it.

The paladin tightens his grip, ready for the next movement. The ash swirls harder, and the choice is bare now, consume the entity and rise, or let it return through him. The moment breaks open in silence, waiting for Surazal’s final act.

I take in the thing beneath the seal consuming it's power as my own to enhance my health once more granting me a near hyperinfinite regeneration speed as well

Surazal closes his hand around the cold hunger beneath the seal and draws. The stone shudders once, then stills as the dark current pours into him.

The seal is yielding.

Violet ash whirls up around his boots as the seam of light in his chest brightens. The steady rhythm inside the chamber answers him, faster now, and cleaner.

The thing below does not resist so much as unravel, its last shape pulled into Surazal’s body. His breath steadies, his frame tightens, and the persistent crack of pain becomes a thin, bearable line instead of a warning.

The Paladin

The Paladin

...You actually took it in.

The paladin lowers his sword another fraction, staring now with a wary, lingering gaze. Behind him, the passage to the wilderness waits in dim silence.

The dark presence fades into the stone, no longer pressing at the seal. Surazal stands alone on the dais with the power in his own veins, and the sanctum settles around that final, hard-won stillness.

The Final Choice at the Seal

The dais went still. Black light thinned from the stones, and the sanctum’s trembling eased into silence.

By the Light... you lived.

Surazal

I did. And so did this world, for now.

Horror, then reluctant reverence. The thing he feared now stood contained.

Surazal left the sanctum no longer a vessel on the verge of breaking, but a bearer of forbidden power made whole by it. Behind him, the holy ward lay quiet, its wrath unanswered and its seal undone. The Paladin remained at the threshold, watching him go with caution where hatred had once been.
