By dusk, Mera and Kaelen reach the Bon-rion camp beside the Xernal. Smoke rises from familiar fires, while Poru and Brokk hurry from the sacred-cave path under the guardians’ watch.

Poru throws her arms around Mera’s waist, and Brokk presses close beside her. Their river stones remain warm, untouched by the Hall or the sealed deep.

Poru

Poru

You came back. I knew the river would bring you home.

Kaelen sets one massive hand against Mera’s shoulder. Beyond the campfires, the Xernal darkens, and a thin rim of frost forms along its bank despite the mild evening.

Kaelen

Kaelen

Home safe. But winter follows you now, wife. Tribe must learn what boundary asks of us.

The bone necklace grows cold against Mera’s chest. Far beneath the river’s murmur, Vaelith’s presence settles into her spirit, no command spoken, only the enduring weight of a watch that has chosen her.

Brokk

Brokk

Will the blue door open again?

Around them, the Bon-rion fires burn steadily, and the children remain safe at Mera’s side. Across the water, frost marks the first quiet sign of her lasting guardianship.

“"Winter has always been in me" she sighs and hugs her children tightly then she looks around and smiles. Shooing off her children to go and mingle with the rest of the tribe she turns to her husband and wraps her arms around him "Just like summer has always followed you. And your flame melts the ice around my heart. you made them, with me" she nods towards the kids”

Winter has always been in me.

Mera sighs and hugs Poru and Brokk tightly, holding them against her as the camp’s evening warmth gathers around their safe return.

She gently shoos the children toward the nearby fires and waiting tribespeople. Poru goes laughing, while Brokk glances back once before following her.

Just like summer has always followed you. Your flame melts the ice around my heart. You made them, with me.

Mera wraps her arms around Kaelen and nods toward the children. He receives her embrace with solemn strength, his broad frame steady beneath her cheek.

Kaelen

Kaelen

Our children, wife. Our tribe. Summer and winter, together. Home is strong.

Beyond them, Poru and Brokk vanish into the glow of the campfires. The Xernal murmurs beside the settlement, and Mera’s cold presence rests peacefully within the warmth of home.

At the Bon-rion camp, Mera held Poru and Brokk close, then sent them laughing toward the firelight. The children’s river stones glowed warmly in their hands as frost silvered the Xernal’s bank.

Mera

Mera

Our children carry both of us: my winter and your summer.

Then our home is strong, and so is our tribe.

Mera embraced him as Vaelith settled within her, no longer a storm, but an enduring guardianship beneath her heart.

Together they watched the seasonal boundary hold: frost at the river, fire within the camp, and the old blue door silent beyond them. Mera returned home bearing winter, while Kaelen stood beside her in the warmth they had made. The Bon-rion endured, and the chapter closed in guarded peace.
