Choosing the Path to Galgok

The kitchen table is a map of Galgok in pieces, checklist on top, food bundles stacked in neat rows. Zara taps the jagged fissure route, while Gerard keeps his finger on the longer tunnel.

Zara

Zara

If we take the fissure, we get in faster. Less time underground means less chance of something going wrong.

Gerard

Gerard

And more chance of one bad step ending the whole trip. The tunnel is slower, but it stays open.

We need the route that gets us there and gets us back. Which one gives us the best shot at doing both?

Zara pulls the map closer, tracing the split line with a careful claw. Gerard straightens the labeled packs, already thinking in distances, water, and weight.

Zara

Zara

I want to go. I just do not want to be the reason we get stuck.

Gerard

Gerard

Take the tunnel. We can still make memories if we reach Galgok in one piece.

The choice settles the room. One route promises speed, the other stability, and Remedy can now push the plan from kitchen table to actual descent.

Is the fissure route too dangerous?

YES (Likely, rolled 35)

Choosing the Path to Galgok

Remedy leans in to inspect the fissure route on the map, noticing a series of small, handwritten notations in the margins that indicate recent rockfall activity.

Remedy

Remedy

The fissure is unstable. One tremor or heavy rain would seal that path entirely.

Zara

Zara

Wait, look at these markings. I did not see those before, but the fissure is definitely compromised.

"We take the tunnel route like Gerard suggested. Losing a couple hours for a safer trip is a fine trade off to me."

Remedy

We take the tunnel route like Gerard suggested. Losing a couple hours for the safer trip is a fine tradeoff.

Zara lets out a breath, then nods at the marked map. Good. Safer is better than heroic and broken.

Gerard

Gerard

Gerard taps the tunnel line with one finger. That buys us time to check the lower gear twice, and I like that a lot.

The lamp hums over the table as the red fissure marks lose their edge in favor of the darker tunnel route.

Zara

Zara

She scribbles a fresh note beside the tunnel path, already thinking ahead to timing and documentation.

Gerard folds the map shut on the chosen line and slides the packs closer together, turning the plan into something that can be carried.
