The Pulse Reveals the Path

At the mountain base, the blocked entrance looks like a fresh collapse, jagged stone jammed tight where the way in should be. Remedy spots the same blue pulse again, thin as a heartbeat through a crack in the rock.

That signal is still alive. It is not just light, it is timing something.

The pulse syncs with a low, mechanical thrum buried in the mountain. Zara leans closer, then freezes as the blue flare dims and returns in a steady rhythm.

It is watching us. Or measuring us. Either way, that wall is not the real entrance.

Gerard shifts his stance beside the debris, scanning the slopes for any hidden seam or service cut. Rain beads on the stone and runs into the crack, but the blue light keeps beating through it, unchanged.

Remedy studies the rhythm and spots a second, weaker pulse answer from farther along the face of the mountain, half-buried under fallen rock. The ruins are not sealed shut, they are directing them.

Zara

So we do not force this wall. We follow the pulse.

The group turns toward the darker stretch of stone as the blue beat leads them onward, toward a hidden access point somewhere in the wreckage.

The Pulse Reveals the Path

Remedy moves with the pulse, one careful step at a time, and the rhythm answers under her boots. The blue flare is not random, it skips across the rock face in a pattern, then lingers on a seam no one else has marked.

That seam is the handoff point.

She traces the beat with her gaze, then reaches the exact stone where the weaker signal washes over wet grit and iron stain. Her fingers find a narrow edge hidden in the shadow of a broken slab.

The slab gives when she pulls. It does not open wide, but it shifts enough to expose a black slit in the mountain, old metal rimmed in mineral crust.

A cold draft spills out. From inside, a faint blue indicator blinks once, as if something beyond the wall notices the change.

That is it. That is the access point.

Gerard steps in behind the others, rain on his shoulders, while Zara stares at the opening like she expects it to move. The mountain keeps humming, waiting for someone to choose first.
