The cafe window frames Hooklake like a postcard gone uneasy. Outside, Bruce sits on the hood of his truck, shoulders slumped, staring at Mountain Vervoless as if it has already won.
Remedy steps closer, and the paper in Bruce’s lap catches the light. The hazard notes are not warnings at all. They are a map, lines and turns matched to a shape that should not exist inside stone.

Remedy
The route repeats. These marks line up with the inside walls.

Bruce
I was trying to keep you alive. The mountain is built wrong, and it keeps changing.
Chuck’s old copy of the notes, folded and creased from use, makes the same pattern jump out in a second layer, not a trail at all but a shifting interior layout with dead ends, sealed turns, and moving breaks.

Bruce
Those rockfall warnings were cover. I marked the places where the passages move before they close.
Across the table, the truth lands hard. Bruce was not steering them away from danger. He was trying to chart the danger before it swallowed them.
“Is Bruce hiding the real way through Galgok?”
EXCEPTIONAL YES (Likely, rolled 10)

Bruce
I did not just chart the hazards, Remedy. I found the bypass, the only one that stays open when the mountain resets its internal geometry.

Bruce
It is not on the map because it is not a path, it is a sequence of pressure plates that force the walls to yield. I have been holding the key to the entire inner sanctum, waiting for someone who could actually survive the walk.

Remedy
The blue pulse in the mountain, it matches the rhythm of these pressure sequences.
“"I'm really tired of these lies and such, Bruce. These are the lives of me and my friends you're messing with."”
SUCCESS (Great Willpower, rolled +2)

Remedy
I am really tired of the lies, Bruce. These are my life and my friends you are gambling with.

Bruce
Fair. I earned that.

Bruce
I kept the bypass back because I thought if I named it too soon, somebody would rush it and get folded into the wall.

Bruce
The note on hazards is mine, all of it. The bad calls, the wrong turns, the delay, I own that.
He pushes the paper map flat, exposing a second set of marks beneath the first, cleaner and darker, like a path traced after the panic passed.

Chuck
Then this is the real sequence.
Bruce nods once, jaw tight, and slides the map toward Remedy. The cafe noise fades behind the three of them, but the blue pulse image on Chuck's phone still glows in the corner of the table.
