The rooftop garden shivers under a sudden footfall. Petals drift over the basin as a ragged cultist staggers through the vines, coughing hard, eyes wild with panic.
He drops to his knees before Angela Diaboli, breath tearing in his chest, while Ben freezes beside the leaf pile and looks toward the stairs.

The Cultist
Angela, the lower levels, scavengers. They found the compound. They are taking everything.

The Cultist
They came armed, with burners and crowbars. I ran to warn you, before they crack the inner doors.

Angela Diaboli
The stairs are open. The garden is not.
Below the rooftop ledge, a distant crash rolls up through the ruined tower, followed by shouting and the ugly rattle of forced entry.

The Cultist
If you want the Flame spared, you need to move now.
✓ Quest Accepted
Defend the rooftop garden from the raid
“I thank the cultist for the warning before throwing him over the edge of the building to his death, fir he was not a choosen guest in my garden and his trespassing deserved punishment”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled -1)

Angela answers with a wordless grip. The cultist’s warning dies in his throat as she hauls him up from his knees and turns him toward the ledge.
Ben recoils from the basin, eyes fixed on the drop, while petals scrape past Angela’s boots in the wind.

Angela Diaboli
Thank you for the warning.
Then she throws him over the edge. His hands vanish first, then the rest of him, swallowed by the broken tower below.
For a beat, only the alarm of the raid and the rush of air remain. The lower floors answer with distant shouting, trapped and frantic.

Ben
He stares at the ledge, pale and still, then looks back to Angela and the stairs.
The garden hangs in silence, but the raid is still moving beneath it.
“I tell Ben to find a safe place to hide”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)

Angela Diaboli
Ben, hide somewhere safe. Stay low.
Ben swallows hard, then nods once and moves at Angela’s order, backing toward the cracked stairwell wall.
He slips behind the stone basin and the leaf pile, shrinking into the shadowed angle where the garden wall meets the access door.

Ben
He’s out there. I need to be out of sight.
Below them, the trapped floors answer with a fresh burst of metal banging and shouted curses, closer than before.
Angela stands alone at the open edge, with the broken tower wind dragging petals past her boots and the raid still climbing up from under her rule.
“I sit in my throne and await the arrival of the scavengers”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +0)

Angela lowers herself into the throne of broken masonry and rusted rebar as if the roof belongs to her already. The wind claws at the petals, but she does not move.

Ben
She is waiting. So I wait too.
Below, the banging climbs another floor, then another, trapped metal noise echoing up the stairwell like a warning being dragged by the throat.
Ben keeps hidden behind the stone basin, only his eyes visible through the leaf pile, watching Angela instead of the stair door.
A gust scatters fresh petals across the cracked ledge, and the empty edge of the roof frames the dark shaft where the scavengers must come from.
From below, a voice shouts for silence, then another answer snaps back, closer than before.
“When the scavengers reqch the garden, i guve them all one chance to kneel at my feet or die by my hand”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

The stairwell mouth coughs up the first scavenger, then a second behind him, both stopping dead at the roofline.
Angela rises from the broken throne in one smooth motion, and the whole garden seems to hold its breath around her.

Angela Diaboli
Kneel at my feet, or die by my hand.
Her words hit the ledge like a hammer. One raider drops his weapon to the stone. Another freezes with his hands half-raised.
Ben stays hidden, staring through the leaves as the scavengers look past him and see only the goddess in their way.

Raider One
We... we were only coming up for water.
Below them, more boots scrape the trapped lower floors, but the men at the roof edge begin to bend.
“I order them to kneel”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +4)

The roof falls silent as the command lands. The first scavenger bends low, then the second follows, both dropping to their knees beside the open stairwell.
Behind them, the column of raiders below stalls at the sound of their leaders surrendering, boots scraping and then stopping on the trapped floors.

Raider One
Don’t shoot. We kneel.
Their weapons settle on the stone. The garden gives up nothing, and the raid gives up its shape.
Ben peeks higher from behind the basin, eyes fixed on the bowed men, while Angela’s rule holds the stair mouth shut without a blow.
One raider swallows hard and jerks his chin toward the dark stairwell behind him, where more movement waits below.
The kneeling men keep their heads down, but one of them points shakily toward the lower floors, offering the way their raid came in.

Fault Removed: Radiation Sickness
“I ask Ben to come stand beside me and i demand the raiders to send forth their strongest and healthiest man.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Ben straightens from behind the basin and steps out, drawn by Angela’s summons. The roof wind tugs at his shirt as he comes to her side, eyes flicking once toward the stairwell, then back to the kneeling men.

Angela Diaboli
Bring me your strongest and healthiest man.
The kneeling raiders trade a tight look. One keeps his head down. The other glances toward the dark stair mouth, where the trapped lower floors still hold their breath.

Raider One
You want the big one, he is below. We left him on the third landing when the stair jammed.
Ben stops at Angela’s shoulder, listening hard. The garden stays still around them, but the open stairwell below feels crowded with unseen bodies.

Raider One
He is the only one of us who can still carry weight after the climb. Tall, broad, mean when he is cornered.
One raider swallows and lowers his hands farther to the stone, as if making himself smaller might help. Ben’s gaze stays fixed on Angela, waiting for what she wants next.
✓ Quest Accepted
Bring the strongest and healthiest raider to me
“Send the big guy uo to me and I'll let the rest jf you leave alive. If i have to go down and get him myself, then any of you whom i pass on the way there will be turned to dust!”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)

The kneeling raider flinches, then jerks a thumb toward the stairwell. His voice comes out rough and thin. The big man goes where he is told.

Raider One
He is on the third landing, chained to the rail. If you want him up here, take the key from my belt.
Ben’s head snaps toward the stairs, then back to Angela. The open mouth below still breathes dust and distant movement, but the nearest raider keeps his face down.
One of the kneeling men lifts his bound hands just enough to show the belt hook, then freezes, waiting for permission to move.

Angela Diaboli
Send him up. The rest of you leave alive if you do.
That lands. The second raider scrambles the key free with shaking fingers and shoves it toward the other man, who rises unsteadily and backs into the stairwell mouth.
From below, a heavy chain scrape answers, followed by a hard, resentful drag upward from the dark.
“I order the big man up to me”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -3)

The chain drag grows loud at the stair mouth, then stops. A broad-shouldered raider climbs into view with his wrists locked to a short length of chain, jaw set hard against the pain of each step.
The kneeling men go still. Ben peeks out from behind the basin, then ducks lower when the newcomer’s boots scrape the stone.

Raider Two
That’s him. The one you asked for.
Angela’s order lands fully, and the raiders feel it. The chained man is brought up to roof level, glaring through sweat and dust, while his keeper’s hand trembles on the keyring.

Angela Diaboli
Bring him here.
The keeper obeys, but the chain snags on the stair lip and snaps taut with a metallic jerk. Dust shakes loose from the threshold, and the chained man stumbles once before catching himself.
A battered knife slips from the keeper’s belt and clatters across the stone toward Angela’s feet, bare proof that the raid still leaves scraps behind.
