The pharmacy’s hidden heart hums below the rubble, a buried power source still feeding the tower. Dust shakes from the stairwell as something moves deep under the floors.
Marek braces at the hatch with Ben behind him, while the Scarred Boar snorts at the broken threshold. The Stranger has vanished below, and a second shape scrapes in the dark.

Marek
Angela, there’s someone down there. Not one of ours.

Ben
The floor is shaking again.
A hard metallic clang answers from beneath the pharmacy, then silence, like a lock being cut or a panel being opened from inside.

The Stranger
It is in motion. I have failed to contain it.
The tower groans around Angela Diaboli. Below, the ancient machinery waits to be claimed, and the unseen intruder draws closer to it at the same time.
“I descend into the hatch”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +1)

Angela drops through the hatch, boots scraping rusted rungs, and the dark below swallows the garden light behind her.
The stairwell opens into the pharmacy’s buried guts, where old pipes sweat and the power hum deepens into a living vibration under her feet.
Ahead, a figure jerks away from the access ladder, startled by her descent, one hand flung toward a hanging tool belt.
Something metallic clinks farther in the lower levels, then stops, as if the intruder has heard her too.

The Stranger
Easy. I am not your enemy.
Angela reaches the landing below, and the stranger freezes at the edge of the maintenance corridor, caught between her and the humming chamber.

The Stranger
I came for the machine, not your crown.

Angela Diaboli
Then kneel beside it, and live.
The hum beneath the tower steadied, obedient now.

The Stranger
She took the ruin and made it kneel.
Angela rose from the maintenance dark with the deep power source secure in her grasp. Above her, the tower answered like a faithful altar, and the wasteland’s silence felt newly owned. The chapter ended with her name settled over the ruin like a crown.
