Beyond the boundary, Mare appears, a young Hispanic human man with warm brown skin, brown eyes, and an intimidating face in a dark fitted jacket in the pale courtlight, visibly spiritually awakened. His muscular frame and wavy black hair are clear now, while the sealed line rejects every step he takes toward them.

Mare presses one hand against the invisible barrier. Frost crawls across it, then vanishes, carrying a faint echo of alarms toward the living world.

Behind Cold Yuichi, Elara remains motionless beside her cracked insignia. Marie supports Janet, Friken retrieves the fading green bow, and Mare waits beyond the barrier for Cold Yuichi’s response.

A young adult Blanko captain steps from the court’s pale archway, a lean woman with braided black hair, bronze skin, and a white mantle marked Unit 2. Her soul-blade uncoils into a silver-scaled snake, wrapping Mare beyond the barrier.

Cold Yuichi lies against the pale floor and turns his mind inward, past Diego’s blade and the blood soaking his uniform, toward the blank within his ice sword.

His fingers tighten. The trembling blade falls silent, then draws a deep white cold from the hidden blank, flooding his arm and sealing the cut enough for him to rise.

The cost arrives as the sword fractures along its length. Frost burns through Cold Yuichi’s palm, and the sudden surge rings across the crystallized perimeter like a struck bell.

Diego advances, but the new power answers before his next cut. White frost spreads from Cold Yuichi’s boots, stabilizing the broken bridge and forcing the captain’s snake-blade to loosen around Mare.

Cold Yuichi rushes across the stabilized bridge. His kick drives Diego backward into the pale wall, cracking the crystallized surface beneath him.

Before Diego can recover, Cold Yuichi’s fractured ice sword releases a broad white slash. It cuts across Diego’s awakened blade and sweeps him into the wall.

The ice settles. Diego’s blazing weapon goes dark, and he slides motionless against the stone, mortally wounded and unable to continue.

The silver-scaled snake loosens around Mare as the captain studies Diego’s defeat. Janet reaches toward Cold Yuichi from behind the crystallized boundary, while Friken steadies her.

Cold Yuichi looks down at the upgraded sword. His former all-white uniform fades completely, replaced by the familiar black-and-white Blanko uniform as frost curls around his burning hand.

The fractured blade steadies enough to reflect the captain’s silver-scaled weapon. Behind him, Diego remains motionless against the wall, while Mare stands free of the loosening coils.

The captain retracts her soul-blade from Mare and lets its scaled form coil beside her. The crystallized perimeter dims, leaving a clear route between them.

Cold Yuichi lowers his fractured sword and forces himself upright beside Friken. The burning hand trembles, but he remains standing and leads Janet, Marie, Mare, and Friken toward the court’s open route.

A pressure like a crushing tide fills the Quiche. Marie, Janet, and Mare drop to their knees, while Friken braces against the stone and Cold Yuichi keeps moving beside him.

Then the true captain appears above the court: an elderly Blanko woman with white braided hair, dark bronze skin, and a towering crimson mantle marked by every unit insignia.

The captain of Unit 2 laughs openly, her silver-scaled soul-blade coiling at her feet. The elder captain’s presence presses harder, but the exit remains open and Cold Yuichi gets his group through it.

A young adult Blanko soldier breaks from the departing formation, grinning beneath a dented helmet. His white uniform is marked with Unit 5’s insignia, and his relief is unmistakable.

A lean, nerdy-looking middle-aged Blanko man appears directly before Janet, wearing round glasses, a rumpled Unit 5 captain’s coat, and a nervous smile. His hand presses lightly against her chest.

He pulls a blue marble of condensed soul-light from Janet’s chest without opening a wound. Janet goes limp, and Marie catches her before she strikes the stone.

The captain’s glasses fall away as his body reshapes into a handsome young adult man with smooth features and swept-back dark hair. He removes the captain’s coat, revealing layered crimson-and-black cult clothing.

He raises the blue marble between two fingers and smirks at Cold Yuichi. Janet remains unconscious in Marie’s arms while the elder captain watches from above, silent.

Cold Yuichi’s fractured sword darkens along its edge. He sweeps it once, sending a silent shadow slice across the court toward the Captain of Unit 2.

The slice passes through her before she can coil the silver-scaled blade. Her form separates cleanly, and she collapses out of the fight as the Quiche’s pressure breaks.

The cost arrives at once: the fractured sword loses its remaining frost, and Cold Yuichi’s burned hand goes numb around the hilt. The attack’s echo races through every tower.

Marie stares from beside Janet, while Mare and Friken freeze in open shock. Above them, the elder captain’s crimson mantle snaps as her attention fixes on Cold Yuichi.

Cold Yuichi keeps the failing sword lowered but ready. His numb hand barely holds the hilt, while Janet lies unconscious in Marie’s arms and the court watches.

A thin crimson thread glimmers from the blue soul-marble toward Cold Yuichi’s fractured sword, then fades as Veyr closes his fingers around the stolen light.

Above the court, the elder captain raises one hand. The surrounding towers answer with a heavy bell, while Veyr smiles and the blue marble pulses between his fingers.

Cold Yuichi’s fractured sword darkens completely. He swings toward Marie, and a silent shadow slice tears across the court toward her and the unconscious Janet.

The blue marble flares in Captain Lucien Veyr’s hand, crimson threads tightening around the sword. Marie cannot move Janet aside before the shadow reaches them.

Aurelio bursts from Marie’s scar in a golden flash and throws both hands forward. A brilliant force field forms between them and the shadow slice.

The shadow crashes into the barrier and splinters across its surface without touching Marie or Janet. Aurelio strains beneath the impact, but the force field holds.

Golden light snaps through the crimson threads around Cold Yuichi’s fractured sword. The mind-control pressure releases, leaving Captain Lucien Veyr’s stolen influence scattered across the court.

Cold Yuichi moves in front of Marie and the unconscious Janet, planting himself between them and Captain Lucien Veyr. He raises the failing sword and points its darkened edge directly at the captain.

Captain Lucien Veyr snarls and slashes upward. The cut tears open the air above him, forming a black void portal rimmed with restless crimson light.

Captain Lucien Veyr smiles through the opening and flies backward into the Pinno world, the blue soul-marble clenched in his hand. The portal seals behind him, leaving only a fading cold over the court.

Lucien’s portal hangs open above the court, its crimson rim twisting against the pale towers. Two white-mantled figures break from the watching captains and rise toward it.

The Unit 6 captain is a tall middle-aged woman with deep brown skin, tightly coiled silver hair, and a blue-lined mantle. The Unit 8 captain is a lean young adult man with pale skin, shaved black hair, and a gold-marked white coat.

They fly through the portal after Lucien, their soul-blades trailing blue and gold light. The opening seals behind all three, confirming that the betrayal reaches across multiple units.
