Three weeks after the Quiche cast him out, Cold Yuichi enters the Blank Realm. The familiar world vanishes, replaced by a silent expanse of pale stone and drifting frost.

His white ice sword forms in his hand, its surface clear as frozen glass. Training scars have faded, but the memory of Janet’s transfer remains in every breath.

When he attempts an ordinary practice stroke, the blade refuses the motion. Frost twists outward, projecting the ghostly outline of Janet’s white rapier in front of him.

The image flickers through fragments: Janet kneeling beneath harsh Quiche light, Diego standing wounded nearby, and a sealed Unit 12 insignia closing over a document.

The rapier’s projection turns toward a distant black doorway that does not belong in the empty realm. Thin ice spreads from its point, forming a path.

Cold Yuichi wakes at his desk to Marie shaking his shoulder. The classroom is nearly empty, late sunlight striping the black-and-red uniforms and dusty floor.

The pale stone, drifting frost, and Janet’s projected rapier cling to the edge of his vision. His white sword is gone, replaced by a trembling hand on the desk.

Cold Yuichi tries to answer, but his throat produces only a dry breath. Marie’s expression tightens, and she catches his arm before he can stand.

Friken glances toward the empty hallway, then takes the other side of the desk. The route home is no longer a simple walk, and both wait for his voice.

A woman appears upside down beyond the classroom window, then smoothly rights herself on the sill. Marlene, a young adult Blanko woman, is a young adult with warm brown skin, short auburn curls, and a green jacket over black clothes; she taps Cold Yuichi’s head through the open window.

Marie’s hand tightens around Cold Yuichi’s arm, while Friken rises sharply from the desk. Marlene smiles, reaches through the window, and presses two fingers against the air.

Cold Yuichi lands hard on a lower platform, his left knee jolting against stone. He rises immediately and follows Marlene through descending corridors as alarms hammer the towers.

The passage opens into the Quiche’s central court, where a vast white seal turns beneath the towers. Cold Yuichi reaches its center, sword in hand, while Marlene’s battle echoes fade above.

Cold Yuichi’s black-and-white Blanko uniform locks into place, and his white ice sword blooms with layered frost. He cuts toward Guard 3, a young adult Blanko man in white segmented armor with cropped dark hair, a narrow face, and a silver visor, through several shifting ice forms.

The attacks break against Guard 3’s defensive seal without leaving a mark. The guard remains unharmed, while Cold Yuichi’s stance holds and no counterblow reaches him.

The vast white seal beneath the central court flares red. Frost peels away from Cold Yuichi’s boots as invisible pressure clamps around his awakened soul-sword.

The court’s towers answer with a deep ringing tone. A narrow gate opens behind Cold Yuichi, showing the dim classroom beyond, while the guards hold their formation.

Cold Yuichi smiles within his black-and-white Blanko form as the expulsion gate widens behind him. He plants his sword and draws frost from the entire court.

A colossal sphere of snow and ice erupts from the blade, rolling across the white seal as Snowball. Every armored soldier is caught, frozen in translucent ice before they can advance.

Behind Cold Yuichi, Marie’s marked arm flares gold. Aurelio, her male fairy, bursts from the scar and sweeps both hands toward the immobilized formation.

Golden force passes through the frozen soldiers. Their armor, seals, and ice shells dissolve into harmless motes, leaving the court empty and the guards defeated rather than wounded.

The cost lands immediately: the red expulsion seal tears across Cold Yuichi’s shoulder, reopening the old injury, while the Snowball attack cracks his ice sword and sends an alarm through every tower.

Marlene drops from the broken ledge into the central court, green jacket snapping in the seal’s pressure. She places a dull gray rock directly on the red ring.

The rock splits the outer ring with a sound like breaking glass. The seal does not vanish; its remaining lines surge inward and coil around Cold Yuichi’s legs.

Marlene’s hand jerks toward the stone, but white bands snap up her arm and lock her beside Cold Yuichi. The classroom gate flickers, narrowing to a hard vertical slit.

The gray rock sinks another inch, pulling the red ring and its authority beneath the court. Marlene grips Cold Yuichi’s sleeve as the newly opened stairs begin drawing them downward.

The rock flashes once. Every line of the Quiche seal collapses inward, then bursts apart into silent white fragments that evaporate before reaching the stone.

The binding vanishes from Cold Yuichi’s legs and Marlene’s arm. The central court falls completely still, its towers darkening as the Quiche loses control of the foundation.

A deep tremor rolls through the court. Far below, hidden doors unlock in sequence, revealing a descending passage lit by faint blue lines and carrying Janet’s spiritual signature upward.

Cold Yuichi runs through the descending blue-lit passage in his Blanko form, white sword steady in hand. Friken keeps pace in dark armor, Marie follows close, and Marlene leads them toward the rising spiritual signature.

The passage opens into the Quiche’s central chamber. Twelve captains wait beneath towering arches, including silver-haired Captain Seraphine Vale; the others form a varied line of adults in white mantles, dark uniforms, and drawn soul-blades.

Cold Yuichi reaches the center of the chamber, accomplishing the charge before the captains can close ranks. The sprint costs him breath and sends a sharp ache through his recently healed shoulder.

Cold Yuichi lowers his sword and slips toward the chamber’s shadowed side with Marie. Marlene and Friken remain behind as two captains advance to intercept them.

Marlene snaps her gray rock against one captain’s blade while Friken’s dark armor meets the other in a burst of blue sparks. Their clash draws the chamber’s attention.

Cold Yuichi and Marie reach the archway unseen. A narrow service passage opens beyond it, lined with sealed doors and pale markings that pulse beneath their feet.

The markings flare red as Cold Yuichi crosses the threshold. Hidden lines rise around him and Marie, forming a silent cage that seals the passage behind them.

The cage shifts, sliding them into a side chamber marked with twelve empty restraints. Through its only window, a deeper corridor appears, but the bars now separate Cold Yuichi from Marie.

Cold Yuichi lowers his sword and draws Marie into the deepest shadow beside the empty restraints. Behind them, Marlene and Friken keep the two captains engaged, their impacts echoing through the chamber.

They move between pulses of the red markings, stepping only when the cage’s pale lines flare elsewhere. Marie keeps one hand over her dimmed mark, following his careful pace.

At the passage mouth, a final restraint-line snaps across Cold Yuichi’s chest and catches Marie’s ankle. The hidden cage identifies both souls before they reach the cells.

Cold Yuichi braces against the restraint without striking it. The line tightens, forcing him and Marie apart, while the deeper corridor beyond the window slides open to reveal numbered cell doors.

Marie’s fingers find a small unmarked latch beneath the window ledge. It glows faintly in response to her scar, revealing a maintenance route that bypasses the cage.

Cold Yuichi remains in his black-and-white Blanko form, white sword held low as he stops resisting the Quiche’s pressure and searches through the surrounding souls.

The blade answers with a thin crystalline tone. Frost crawls beneath the maintenance latch, tracing a hidden route below the numbered cells and locking onto Janet’s spiritual signature.

Cold Yuichi forces the latch open. The panel drops into a narrow stairwell, and Janet’s presence becomes unmistakable below, alive and confined behind a sealed door.

The opening makes a sharp metallic report through the chamber. Red markings flare across the walls, recording Cold Yuichi’s soul-signature and sending an alarm toward the captains.

Cold Yuichi’s healed shoulder tightens under the Blanko uniform as the sword’s frost dims. The route remains open, and Janet’s living signature pulses steadily beneath the third cell.

Marlene turns at the passage mouth as the captain of Unit 11 advances, a broad-shouldered middle-aged man in a white mantle, with close-cropped gray hair and a scarred jaw.

Marlene blasts him with concentrated spirit-light. He deflects it across the wall, then draws a long black soul-blade, its edge ringing through the maintenance chamber.

Cold Yuichi and Marie descend the narrow stairs together. Red markings flare under his boots, recording his passage, while Janet’s signature pulses steadily below.

They reach the door beneath the third cell. Its pale surface bears Janet’s Unit 12 insignia, and her presence answers from the other side before Cold Yuichi can touch it.

The alarm spreads through the foundation, costing them secrecy. Above, Marlene’s blade clash echoes closer, while Marie presses her dimmed mark to the seal and searches for its release.
