The tunnel narrows fast, slick with black root sap. Cold air breathes up from ahead, carrying the scent of wet stone and something older, buried deep.
The Unseen Watcher glides in front, one hand brushing the wall as if they know every bend. Cresher follows close, blades low, shoulders tight.

Cresher
This is the part where traps start speaking louder than stones. Stay sharp, Teef.
The passage opens into a chamber of hanging roots, and there it is, a great stone door veined with bone-white ridges. Fresh scratches mark the floor before it, like something strong was dragged inside.

The Unseen Watcher
The trail-skull was never the prize. It was the key. What waits beyond that door answers only to strength.

Teef
A test. Bigger than the last one.
From the dark seam beneath the door comes a low thrum, almost a heartbeat. Cresher shifts beside Teef, ready to break the first thing that lunges.

Get through the stone door
“"It's the key, huh? Hey, Cresher, you should try holding it up to the door."”
SUCCESS (Mediocre Reasoning, rolled +1)

Teef
It's the key, huh? Cresher, hold it up to the door.
Cresher takes the trail-skull in both huge hands and lifts it toward the stone face. The bone-white ridges drink in the skull's pale light.
A deep click rolls through the chamber. Thin seams race across the door, and old dust sifts from the roots above.

The Unseen Watcher
There. It was always meant to answer to a bearer, not a thief.

Cresher
Hah. Good. I like a lock that respects the hand holding the key.
The door groans inward a handspan, spilling cold dark from within. The trail-skull in Cresher's grip smokes once, then cracks with a sharp little snap.

The Unseen Watcher
Careful. Something in there heard that.
“Teef charges in, without fear.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +0)

Teef moves first, driving her shoulder through the slit of darkness as the door yawns wider behind her. Cold air claws at her face, carrying wet stone, old dust, and something stale beneath it.
Her boots hit the chamber floor hard. The threshold gives no answer, only a hollow hush, while the crack in the trail-skull smolders in Cresher’s grip at her back.

The Unseen Watcher
Easy. Do not split your attention, this room listens.
Inside, the chamber opens in broken rings of stone and root. The light dies fast, and shapes along the walls begin to separate from the dark.
Cresher plants herself at the doorway, broad enough to block half the opening, while dust streams past her legs like breath from a buried throat.

Cresher
Good. Teef is in. Now let it try to surround us.
From the far black, a ring of pale glints answers, circling wider as if the chamber itself is turning its head toward them.
