Teef's Story - Rootfall’s Breaker, Road Reclaimed

Teef stands inside the root-lined chamber with her warhammer ready, blood still running from her wounded forearm. Varka remains beside her, spear angled toward the altar.

The seed-bearer advances, dragging slabs of stone in a grinding wake. Black roots pulse from their ribs toward Teef's blood, tightening with every drop.

The seed-bearer raises the wooden mask. Beneath it, a twisted face strains around black veins, one eye buried under living root and the mouth split by thornlike growths.

Roots lash outward from the chamber walls. Varka hacks one aside, but others coil across the stone, converging on Teef as the altar throbs like a buried heart.

Teef dashes beneath the converging roots, her small frame slipping through the gaps as black tendrils rake sparks from the stone behind her.

She closes the distance in a heartbeat and swings her warhammer upward with both hands, driving the head into the seed-bearer's root-wrapped ribs.

The impact caves the wooden mask and tears several living roots free from the altar. Blood and black sap burst across the chamber as the seed-bearer staggers.

The seed-bearer crashes against the altar, one knee grinding into stone. The roots feeding their ribs writhe wildly, no longer drawing toward Teef with steady purpose.

Varka hacks through a thick tendril beside Teef, opening a clear path to the staggering enemy. Beneath the shattered mask, the seed-bearer's exposed eye burns with furious red light.

Teef springs through the shattered roots, lifting her warhammer high above her head. Her small frame twists in the air, turning momentum into a brutal descending strike.

The hammer crashes onto the seed-bearer's wooden mask and skull with a thunderous crack. The mask bursts apart, and the seed-bearer collapses hard against the altar.

Black roots tear loose from the corpse-like vessel, whipping across the stone before withering. The altar's pulsing throb falters, and the basin of blood spills into the carved floor.

The seed-bearer's exposed face slackens beneath the broken roots. A dark seed clatters from their ruined chest, rolls across the altar, and comes to rest at Teef's boots.

Varka plants her spear beside the altar, staring at the small black seed as its surface splits with a faint crimson glow. Deep below, something answers with a slow subterranean heartbeat.

Teef steps over the fallen seed and swings her warhammer down again, aiming to end the seed-bearer's life before the hidden Root can reclaim the vessel.

The hammer smashes through the exposed skull and drives the seed-bearer into the altar stone. The twisted body goes limp, and the last breath leaves in a wet rasp.

The black seed at Teef's boots splits wider. Crimson light spills through its cracks, and the chamber's subterranean heartbeat grows heavier beneath the broken altar.

Varka thrusts her spear into the altar's blood-carved groove, pinning a surge of roots as they crawl toward the seed. The stone floor buckles around both warriors.

Teef raises her warhammer over the split seed and brings it down with all her strength. The blow lands squarely, crushing black shell against the altar stone.

Crimson light erupts through the cracks, then collapses into a shower of dead ash. The subterranean heartbeat stutters, and every root in the chamber recoils from the shattered seed.

Varka wrenches her spear from the altar groove as black sap boils across the carvings. Beneath the stone, something vast shifts, deprived of its promised path.

The altar splits from edge to edge. Roots burst through the widening seam, dragging slabs of stone upward while a red glow floods the chamber floor.
