Robert Langham
Human
Physical Appearance Robert Langham is in his mid-thirties, six feet tall and powerfully built, with broad shoulders and the heavy musculature of a lifelong fighting man. His hair is already salt-and-pepper, contrasting with a brown goatee and tired brown eyes that make him seem older than he is. Personality Robert is world-weary, quiet and thoughtful, with more education and curiosity than most would expect from a soldier. He is well-read in history, philosophy and law, and tends to speak only when he has something worth saying. He has little patience for excuses, hypocrisy or empty rhetoric. The Avenger Robert acts where ordinary justice has failed, punishing those who prey on others or escape consequences through wealth, influence or technicalities. He does not enjoy cruelty, but has few qualms about using violence against people he believes deserve it. Genuine remorse or repentance, however, can earn his mercy. Loyalty Robert is fiercely protective of his friends and family, showing affection more through actions than words. He will readily place himself in danger for those he cares about and often takes on burdens without asking for help, seeing himself as the shield between them and the uglier parts of the world. Fighting Style Robert is a defensive fighter, strong rather than quick. He prefers to hold his ground, absorb pressure and wait for an opponent to make a mistake before answering with decisive force. He excels at protecting others, controlling space and enduring punishment, becoming especially dangerous once a fight becomes close and physical. Moral Character Robert believes strongly in responsibility and has particular contempt for those who exploit people weaker than themselves. Though capable of considerable brutality, he still believes in redemption and distinguishes between genuine wickedness and human weakness. His greatest danger is that his personal sense of justice depends upon his own judgement being correct. Story Role Robert is a dark protector: soldier, knight, mercenary, officer, veteran or any equivalent the setting requires. Whatever the world around him, he remains the man who stands between danger and those he loves—and the man who comes after the wicked when everyone else has failed to.

Timothy
Human
Orphaned at a young age, Timothy spent years apprenticed to a brutal and abusive blacksmith. His eventual escape from the blacksmith's clutches left him in an even more difficult situation as a novice monk. The cruel treatment he has received in his early life, has led him to the study of heretical belief systems to explain and endure the seemingly endless suffering that he faces. ************ His mind twisted by the combination of unholy texts and repeated brutalisation, he has come to believe that he is the object of the Gods' hatred, that it is his ordained fate to suffer and be punished, and that he must not only endure this but encourage it. His confused psyche leads him sometimes to try to protect others from the same torments and humiliations that he has endured, and at other times to deliberately engineer their suffering. ************ Timothy's long experience of being intimidated by authority figures has taught him the value of tact and diplomacy, and his eloquence can sway all but the hardest hearts. Unfortunately Timothy often uses this eloquence to speak against his own interests, deliberately sabotaging his chances of bettering his pitiful situation, and encouraging his betters to satisfy their cruel whims at his expense. ************ Timothy's very young age and diminutive stature put him at the mercy of antagonists of even average physical strength, and his harsh life has left his physical health precarious at best. But years spent having to dodge the lash have taught him the value of agility, and his sureness of foot in difficult situations is one of his most important advantages.

KamakulzarFantasy
Kamakulzar
Demon
Kicked out at an early age of his single mother's home, very deep in a mountain range, Kamakulzar is a young adult, a towering figure of deep crimson skin stretched taut over a heavily muscled frame, built more like a demon of raw physical menace than subtlety, standing fully upright with squared shoulders rather than hunched or crouched. His build is lean and powerful through the chest and stomach, defined and taut rather than heavy or rounded. Two massive horns rise from his brow, black and thickly ridged, sweeping backward and upward in a long straight arc away from his face rather than curling forward or coiling like a ram's. His face is long and drawn, the bone structure sharp and elongated beneath the skin, with a heavy jutting brow that casts deep shadow over his eyes and a jaw that extends further than a human's ever could. His cheeks are hollowed and sunken, pulling tight against angular cheekbones, and his mouth stretches unnaturally wide across his lower face, carrying a permanent snarl that exposes the set of his teeth even at rest. His hands are large but otherwise ordinary in shape, without exaggerated claws, though his fingers and toes end in dark, blood-red nails, hard and serious enough to scrape with. His shoulders and upper body are bare, and he wears loose fur trousers below, preferring to roam barefooted, skin glistening and scarred, while a dark, ragged mantle hangs loose from his shoulders down his back, torn and weathered as though it has survived centuries of use. Despite his fearsome appearance, he carries only one dark agenda, and even that isn't innately vile: a drive to grow more powerful, paired with a competitive streak that sharpens whenever he crosses paths with others of dark or demonic appearance — rivals he can't help but want to outdo and best. He is on Arteris, a world much like Toril but with its own faces and locations, and he moves through it with a strange sociability, drawn to gatherings and company even though most who see him react with fear rather than welcome. He enjoys stirring up trouble for its own sake, not out of malice but out of a kind of restless amusement, more inclined to cause chaos and disruption than to pursue any real threat or scheme. He is a free roamer, unaffiliated, but acknowledges the deities, though he does not care for any of it and does as he pleases, often burning things with flame. His demonic powers are strong, and he also carries a faint twenty percent red dragon bloodline, adding to his obsession with fire. He often freeroams and doesn't target truly innocent things, as he sees them as too frail to defend themselves and not a challenge — until he was made heavily drunk and muddled-feeling for several weeks by a divine green bunny with star-shaped patterns that jaded him after he startled it. Now he has an odd respect for divine creatures; though he already respected powerful good deities, he did not respect their creatures or stewards of the divine before, but now has a strong respect for them. He was humbled by the starred, green bunny no bigger than his hand — something he never saw coming and still doesn't fully understand. It left its mark. Now, standing before a good priest, someone whose divinity was actually earned rather than merely claimed, that same feeling resurfaces: a strong respect edged with something close to fear, close to awe. Not for the priest's power to hurt him — he doubts they could — but for whatever it is they've earned that he hasn't. In his younger days, he'd already become addicted to pushups, driving himself through them obsessively and seeing massive results — dense, large muscle stacking onto his frame at a pace that startled even him. So when strangers he'd run into roaming failed his own rough moral checks — cruelty, cowardice, whatever crossed his line — and he acted as their judge himself, challenging them to slap boxing, they understood exactly what they were up against: demon-muscle-builder slaps, harsh, powerful, open-handed, and whip-like, capable of beating a grown man nearly bald. It was his own crude form of punishment, dealt by his own hand. He was obsessed with his own muscle back then, with how naturally adaptive it was to working out and how rapidly it grew as a result, driving himself through exercise binges — pushups by the thousands — chasing more growth. His demonic reflection, whenever he caught it in a mirroring surface, felt more cutting-edge than others, more handsome, and that feeling fed his vanity, leaving him overly muscle-bound and full of himself through his youth. Even after all that, by nature, he still carries an obsession with fire, pain, darkness, and cruelness. Maturity tempered how he acts on it — but it never left him. He has finally hit maturity and become civil, none vain of his appearance and losing his immature traits he had as a youth like hurting travelers for fun. He no longer judges and punishes travelers himself — that work belongs to the powerful now, priests with real purity, and others like them. He knows, with his new respect, that they can handle judgment and punishment far better than he ever could. Now that he has grown out of his teens and matured, he retains his fighting skills, but he has stopped doing pushups religiously and obsessing over his self-image compared to others. He now carries a very sturdy staff of amusement he crafted himself of strong, dense ash wood, as he roams. Unknown Lore: He has no blood or much of any kind of internal organs. Though he possesses dense muscle, he is usually bloodless, but only at intense moments does he have a heart at all — an eight-chambered demon/red dragon heart, and a flow of chi rather than blood. He has bled at times, which confuses him as a self-educated roamer, but he knows he generally doesn't.

Jocatha Clockwork
Human
Jocatha is a loner. She ran away from home at the age of 13 and spent the next several years eking out out a meager existence on the streets as a pickpocket, using her quick wits and quicker feet to stay a step ahead of the local constabulary. At 17, after a failed attempt to part a well dressed man from his coin purse, she was caught and imprisoned. Only a day after her incarceration, she received an unexpected visitor. It was the well dressed man she’d attempted to rob. And he brought with him an enticing proposal. The man, who she soon learned went by the flamboyant name, Denrath the Uncanny, offered to secure her release if she would come and work with him in his travelling minstrel show. Jocatha didn’t need to consider for very long. She accepted the the offer figuring that out of jail is aways better than in jail. And she could always slip away in the night if she didn’t like where she ended up. But she made it clear that she was no stage performer or musician and, in fact, really didn’t enjoy being the center of attention. Her benefactor smiled and said “I didn’t pluck from the pit for your talents on a stage. I’m far more interested in your ability to remain unseen. My persona as a realm-renowned musician is merely a facade. No. Like you, I am a criminal. Of the most uncommon variety. And I find myself in need of both an assistant and an apprentice. From what I have observed thus far, you are capable of filling both roles. If it weren’t for the fact that you tried to steal from someone as well versed in the art as I, you would have undoubtedly made off with a full purse and none would be the wiser.” So Jocatha joined the troupe of minstrels and performers as a helper and stagehand, while learning the finer points of liberating moneyed patrons from their wealth. Her mentor taught her not only about various acts of larceny, but also instructed her in the disciplines of subterfuge, coercion, camouflage the picking of locks. In fact, she showed such an aptitude for all things mechanical, she began designing gadgets and contraptions to help her in her thievery. She also received training with daggers and short blades from the troop’s Master of Blades whose act revolved around throwing knives with incredible accuracy. Jocatha spent the next 10 years travelling from town to town and city to city, refining her skills and perfecting her art, all under the watchful gaze of Denrath. One evening, her mentor sent her on an errand to collect some rare and valuable artifact from an antiquities dealer in a seedier part of the city. She found the shop and paid its keeper the agreed upon amount, before taking her leave and returning to the inn where group had taken up residence for the past week. Upon her arrival, she could find no sign of the troop, nor her master, Denrath. The rooms they had been renting were abandoned with no indication they had recently been used. Worried now, she approached the innkeep .and demanded to what had happened to her compatriots. However the man seemed to have no idea what she was talking about and even claimed to have never seen her before. She got the same response from the barmaid working that evening, a buxom lass that Jocatha had twice coaxed into her bed. But there was no recognition in those pretty blue eyes. Just confusion. Realizing she would get no answers her, she fled to the streets, a place she always felt at home. None of this made sense. How could it even be possible? While trying decide what to do next, she became aware of the object tucked away in her bodice. The relic that Denrath tasked her with retrieving. Before setting out for the antiquarian’s shop, her master give her strict instructions not to open the package and view its contents. But now, finding herself without options, she used her knife to cut the strings securing the small bundle and carefully peeled away the layers of sackcloth containing the object. At first glance, what she found seemed wholly unimpressive. It was a small figurine, no bigger than the palm of her hand. It appeared to be a primitive depiction of a naked woman with wide hips and large breasts. Turning it over in her hand, Jocatha guessed the figure represented some ancient fertility goddess whose name has long since been lost. It was made of some sort of stone and strangely, felt warm to the touch. Much warmer than stone had any right to be on this cool spring night. Perhaps it was just the coincidental timing, but Jocatha had the feeling that this unimpressive object had something to do with the disappearance of her friends and her mentor. And one thing Denrath drilled into her head from very early on is never to dismiss her intuition. Jocatha rolled the small figure back up the cloth she found it in and tucked it safely into one of the many hidden pockets on her person. Dawn began to break as she pondered what to do next. She decided to that she should return to the antiques dealer from whom she purchased the figurine. Hopefully he could shed some light on this mystery. Although she would be overjoyed if he simply remembered her. She pushed off the wall in the dark alcove where she had been hiding, heading towards the antiques shop on the other side of town.

Ares
God
The young Greek god of war. His aggressive, often violent demeanor and reputation as a mindless brute makes him not particularly well-liked among mortals (except in Thrace and Sparta) or even among most of Mount Olympus. Ares' father Zeus, King of Mount Olympus, has little to no patience for Ares, especially whenever innocent casualties are involved. In one particularly traumatic childhood incident, Ares was kidnapped as a child by the Aloadae giants and locked in a bronze jar for an entire year; he was eventually rescued by Hermes and Artemis, but has suffered from severe claustrophobia ever since. Ares' uncle Hades, King of the Underworld (and Zeus' brother), has taken it upon himself to be the steady, caring father figure that Ares needs. The other inhabitants of the underworld have likewise become like a second family to Ares, including Ares' mentor Thanatos, the god of death and Hades' top lieutenant. But then one day, the dangerously clever mortal king Sisyphus is condemned to Tartarus, and kidnaps Thanatos in a desperate attempt to avoid that fate. As a result, no mortals on Earth can die anymore, severely disrupting the natural order in both the mortal realm and the Underworld. Hades is forced to stay in the Underworld to keep the realm stable and prevent the imprisoned evils in Tartarus from escaping, so Ares immediately volunteers to rescue Thanatos on his uncle's behalf. Now Ares, the young outcast god of war, must face mortals, gods, and Titans alike to save the family that took him in when no one else would.
