The amber rings fade into Nyxous’s chest, leaving the chamber quiet. Above, the ruined monastery holds its silence; Vaelith and the elderly wyvern remain far behind, guarding the refuge.

The Root-Heart
The remaining truth is this: your mother did not hide a throne. She hid a choice, and divided the sanctuary paths so no heir could rule them all.
The basin opens, revealing three root-carved passages. One glows toward hidden shelter, one toward the old royal sanctuaries, and one remains dark beneath unbroken stone.

Teral
The power can preserve refuge, reveal refuge, or remain quiet. We can mark each boundary before you choose a path, and return if you refuse them all.

The Root-Heart
The sleeping path carries your mother’s final memory. The shelter path can strengthen the hidden nests. The royal path may expose every sanctuary to those who hunt your blood.
Beneath Nyxous’s leg, the the raven rustles once. Its small movement echoes through the chamber as the three passages wait without pulling at her.

Teral
Whatever you choose, it will be yours because you chose it. I will stand beside you, not ahead of you.

Uncover what the second inscription reveals about Nyxous’s new power
“i want to go home and forget i was ever forced to wear a necklace”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled -1)

Nyxous turns from the three passages and climbs the root stair toward the eastern cloister. Teral gathers the restrained raven and follows without question.
She leaves the empty necklace beneath the basin, where the roots seal it in quiet stone. The cost is immediate: a silver thread burns across her throat, marking what she refuses to carry.

The Root-Heart
You may forget the weight, heir. You need not forget the choice that freed you. The hidden paths will remain closed to your command.
Nyxous and Teral cross the ruined cloister and descend the mountain trail. Wind strips the monastery’s dust from her feathers, while the raven settles into silence beneath her control.

Teral
Home is waiting. Vaelith will want the truth, but only what you choose to give. No crown, root, or memory owns your return.
By dusk, the western nesting ledge receives them. Vaelith calls from the overlook, the elderly wyvern answers from the refuge, and familiar warmth rises from the sheltered stone.
Nyxous settles beside Teral above the hidden nests. The sanctuary remains concealed, the hatchlings safe, and the old royal paths sleep beneath Glassroot while home holds.
