The floor is still, but the cold seal beneath it throbs like a buried heart. Hades stands over the sealed seam, one hand raised, holding the ancient force down. Thanatos keeps Sisyphus pinned at a safe distance. Ares faces his uncle across the broken throne room, with the pit of hidden power yawning under them all.

Ares

Ares

There is another law under the palace.

Hades

Hades

Yes. Corinth was built on a lie, and lies like this are how realms survive.

Thanatos

Thanatos

Ares, the dead were never meant to stop. This was not mercy, it was theft.

Sisyphus laughs once, thin and cracked, then goes quiet as Thanatos tightens his hold. The chamber hums with old power, waiting for the next decision.

Hades

Hades

I kept the hidden order buried because the world was already breaking. I meant to give you truth when you could bear it, not while it could still be twisted into fury.

The seal brightens under Hades's palm, and the pit answers with a low, distant rumble, as if something ancient recognizes Ares at last. Hades does not look away from him.

Hades

Hades

You are my son in all but blood, and the Underworld is yours to guard as well. Will you stand with me and close this, or will you force it open for answers?

I stand with Hades and close the seal.

Ares steps in beside Hades and sets his will against the seal. The cold light answers, gathering tight under their joined effort.

The seam knits shut with a final shudder. The buried throb beneath Corinth loosens, then settles into silence.

Hades

Hades

Well done. You held steady when the truth could have driven you to ruin.

Thanatos

Thanatos

The dead may move again. That is enough to name this a victory.

Thanatos releases Sisyphus to the floor with a hard, controlled shove. The king stays down, stripped of his certainty at last.

Sisyphus

Sisyphus

I built a kingdom on timing, and it ends with a pause I cannot bargain with.

Hades lowers his hand from the seal and looks to Ares with quiet pride. The chamber’s broken light softens around them, and the old machinery remains shut.

Hades

Well done, Ares. You held steady when the truth shook the stone.

Thanatos releases Sisyphus. The chamber falls quiet at last.

Defeat, again.

Ares

Ares

The seal stands. I will keep my balance, lord, even with these shadows.

The hidden pulse beneath the throne room was silenced, and the underworld settled back into its stern, measured breathing. Ares remained in Hades's service, but not as before: he carried the burden of what he had seen, and the resolve to guard order without surrendering his own heart.
