The palace doors hang open in broken silence. Inside, the air shivers with violet threads, and Thanatos lies suspended in that glow, motionless but alive. Hades stands free again, jaw set, one hand lifted as if to hold the whole kingdom together.

Hades
Sisyphus is deeper in. The spell is anchored to his will. End it, Ares, but do not lose yourself in it.
Ares steps over the threshold. The pulse from within beats against his bones like a challenge, and the corridor beyond opens into a throne chamber of polished stone and cold oil lamps.

Sisyphus
At last. The god who solves problems with his fists. Tell me, boy, did your uncle send you to threaten me, or to beg?
Sisyphus stands beside a bronze basin etched with knots of purple light. Thanatos hangs above it in the spell’s grasp, and the chamber seems to wait for Ares to choose what kind of force he brings into it.

Ares
The air tightens. Sisyphus shifts his hand over the basin, ready to drag the spell deeper. Hades watches from the doorway, silent and severe. The next move belongs to Ares.
“I call to Thanatos and hold back Sisyphus”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +2)

Ares lifts his voice toward the suspended god, steady and clear, and the chamber seems to answer. The violet threads around Thanatos slacken at the sound.

Thanatos
I hear you, Ares.
Ares plants himself between Sisyphus and the basin, every line of his body holding the space. Sisyphus checks the movement, his smile thinning.

Sisyphus
So. You do know how to stand still when it matters.

Ares
The spell is loosening around Thanatos.
Hades watches from the doorway, and for a moment his sternness gives way to visible pride. The chamber’s pulse steadies, no longer straining so hard against the air.

Thanatos
Hold him there a little longer. I am coming free.
“I keep Sisyphus pinned while Hades frees Thanatos.”
SUCCESS (Superb Strength, rolled +1)

Ares tightens his stance and the chamber answers at once. Sisyphus loses the edge of his smile, locked in place by the pressure of Ares’s body and will.

Sisyphus
So that is the shape of him.
Behind the god of war, Hades steps in fully from the doorway. His hand lifts, dark power gathering around the bronze basin as the violet threads start to unravel.

Thanatos
Good. Keep him there.
The slackened bindings peel back from Thanatos’s shoulders and chest. His feet lower toward the floor, no longer suspended in the worst of the spell.

Hades
That is enough, Thanatos. Come free.
Thanatos reaches the ground and straightens, whole at last. The chamber’s pulse settles into an even beat, and the violet light fades to a softer glow.

Sisyphus
You ruin every game you touch.
