Far beyond the reefs, the answering lantern flashes again, then shifts steadily westward. One exhausted hunter raises a shaking arm toward a narrow channel between black rocks.

There. That passage leads to Blackreef’s western anchorage. The lantern is moving toward it.
Another survivor coughs against a splintered spar and looks from the channel to Oceania’s luminous body. The others remain silent, too exhausted to swim.

The lantern flashes once more, smaller now between the reef walls. The survivors cling to their wreckage, while the open water around Oceania falls briefly still.

The surge overturns the broken timbers and sweeps the surviving hunters into the boiling water. Their cries vanish beneath the rushing foam, and none resurface.
The wave collapses against the reef walls, scattering spars across the channel mouth. Behind Oceania, the survivors and their wreckage disappear into the dark sea.

Ahead, the lantern steadies beyond a bend, revealing the shadowed waters leading toward Blackreef’s western anchorage.

The passage opens into Blackreef’s western anchorage, a broad cavern of black water enclosed by jagged cliffs. The lantern hangs from a stone watchtower above the inlet.
Three larger ships rest beneath the cliffs, their sails furled and their decks crowded with armed figures. Braziers burn along the harbor ledges, staining the water red.

There she is. The sanctuary’s guardian has followed our signal straight into the anchorage.
A tall elderly woman steps onto the watchtower balcony, her silver hair braided beneath a crimson hood. A black iron staff rests in her gloved hand.
