The light bridge groans as the last of its brilliance fades into the abyss. Derick Force leaps onto the solid stone landing just as the final segment of the path crumbles behind him.

Kellan
The stairs. We must reach the bottom before the Spire completes its rotation.

Derick Force
The air down here tastes of old ozone and stagnant water.
They descend into a circular chamber carved from living, translucent quartz. Massive, pulsing amber veins run through the walls, casting a rhythmic, golden glow over the floor.

The Ash-Wrapped Sentinel
The Heart Chamber. The seal is not held by stone, but by memory. Tread lightly, swordsman.
Joi whines softly, her hackles raised, as she paces toward a doorway etched with ancient, weeping runes.

“You call for everyone to halt for a moment to provide medical attention for anyone who needs it, and take the time to better attend your own wounds”
SUCCESS (Great Medicine, rolled +0)

Derick Force
Hold. Everyone, stop. We are not proceeding in this condition.
Derick Force drops his pack, his eyes scanning the party for the source of the bleeding.

Kellan
There is no time, the Spire is shifting, the seal will lose its grip.

Derick Force
The bleeding from the Sentinel's flank is worsening, if I do not bind it now, they will not last the descent.
With practiced efficiency, Derick Force applies a thick salve and tight linen strips to the Sentinel, his movements sure and calm despite the low groan of the chamber.

The Ash-Wrapped Sentinel
You waste your supplies on a construct of duty, swordsman. Yet, I feel the hum of the seal return to my core. It is done.
Joi nudges Derick Force's hand with her wet nose, turning her ears toward a sudden, sharp crack echoing from the vaulted ceiling above.
“You say, "lets get moving. " And move forward, scanning the aria.”
SUCCESS (Superb Perception, rolled +0)

Derick Force
Lets get moving.
Derick Force rises, his greaves clanking against the crystalline floor. He keeps his gaze sharp, sweeping the chamber from the vaulted heights down to the shifting floor.
Beneath the dust of centuries, his keen eyes catch a faint, rhythmic pulse emanating from the plinth. A small, runic gemstone lies partially dislodged, vibrating in time with the chamber's tremors.

Kellan
The resonance, it is stabilizing. Your intervention has bought us a reprieve.

The Ash-Wrapped Sentinel
The path forward is clear, though the instability lingers. We must secure the stone before the ceiling collapses.

Derick Force
The structural failure is worse than it looks. If that stone comes loose completely, this whole chamber will bury us.
Joi growls low in her throat, ears pricked toward a heavy, grinding sound approaching from the shadowed archway ahead.
“You approach the archway, checking ahead to see what the sound is”
SUCCESS (Superb Perception, rolled -1)

Derick Force
Stay behind me, Joi. Something is coming through that arch.
Derick Force pushes past the settling dust, his boots crunching on fragments of fallen masonry. He rounds the edge of the central plinth, his great sword ready in a balanced stance.
The archway reveals a hidden alcove where the stone is not broken, but ancient and deliberate. A massive obsidian door has been forced open from the inside.

Garth
You are late, Derick. I expected you to navigate the collapse with more grace.

Garth
He looks tired. Good. This is the moment to test if his blade has dulled alongside his reflexes.
Garth stands amidst the debris, his own blade driven deep into the floor to steady himself, his grin betraying his anticipation.

“Jois eyes light up in recognition, giving a happy little bark as she approaches Garth, seeking a pat. You say, "garth! Its been a while, comrade! How did you end up here? "”
SUCCESS (Good Persuasion, rolled +1)

Derick Force
Garth! It has been a while, comrade! How did you end up here?
Joi trots forward, her tail wagging rhythmically as she bypasses the jagged debris. She offers a sharp, joyous bark and nudges her wet nose against Garth's armored greave.

Garth
That dog has a better sense of friendship than the man himself.

Garth
Fate and iron, Derick. I found the passage behind the falling veil while you were busy playing nursemaid to broken spirits. It was a long road, but seeing you standing there makes the trek worth the effort.
Garth releases his great sword, letting the heavy steel clatter against the stone floor. He reaches down to scratch Joi behind the ears, his smirk softening into a genuine, tired smile.

Garth
But enough pleasantries. The floor is shifting under our feet and the ceiling is hungry. Are you going to spar, or are we going to see if we can both survive this collapse?
