Derick Force ducks through the tunnel behind the altar as the chamber shudders apart. The air turns damp and cold, and roots claw across the stone walls like black veins. Behind him, the rune-ring glare fades to a hard pulse.

The passage drops into a lower cavern, wider than the root-chamber and slick with seepwater. Pale mushrooms glow along the banks of an underground stream, and old stone steps vanish into the dark ahead. Joi sticks close at Derick Force's leg, ears pricked.

The tunnel is older than the altar.
A deep throb rolls up from beneath the streambed, shaking loose grit from the ceiling. The Ash-Wrapped Sentinel halts at the brink of the water and points toward a cracked archway beyond the current, where pale script glimmers faintly on wet stone.

Cross now. Whatever wakes below the seal is already hunting the weakness.
Derick Force plants his feet at the stream’s edge while the cavern answers with another heavy pulse. The water ripples outward from the archway, as if something below is breathing through the floor.

Derick Force lunges from the stream edge and finds the slick stones with sure footing. Water splashes up his boots as he crosses in the Hooded Figure's wake.

Joi darts after him, claws skittering once on wet rock before she plants herself beside his knee. The Ash-Wrapped Sentinel steadies on the far side, watching the archway and the pulsing floor beneath it.

The cavern gives another hard tremor. Fine spray jumps from the stream, and the cracked archway ahead glows brighter through the wet dark.

Derick Force reaches the far bank with the others. The group now stands together beneath the glowing script, while the floor throbs underfoot like a buried heart.

Beyond the arch, the cavern narrows into a ribbed passage. Wet walls sweat silver beads, and the stream sound drops behind them to a deep, hollow murmur.

Derick Force pushes ahead with a smooth burst of speed, boots finding every dry ledge. A hidden draft tugs at his cloak, carrying the scent of dust, ash, and old rain.

The passage opens into a round chamber where a cracked plinth stands at the center. On it rests a dull stone bound in pale bands of light, and the pulse under the floor answers with a sharper beat.
At the chamber’s far wall, a second arch is etched with fresh scorch marks, and a thin trail of grit spills inward from the darkness beyond.
