Adventure of Rika Everwood

Ilyra steps between Rika and the stair descending beneath Yuki’s inscription. Her patience has thinned to a hard silence, while pale script gathers around both their shadows.

The script creeps higher along the threshold, forming broken letters beside Ilyra’s shadow and a second line around Rika’s boots. The stair below remains dark.

At Yuki’s name, the blue thread in the wall brightens once, then divides toward the stair. The pale letters tighten, waiting for a spoken allegiance.

The words leave Rika quietly, without the sharp edge her reputation expects. The familiar impulse to turn purpose into a command rises, but Traveler’s Tell keeps her cadence honest and measured.

Yuki’s marked token warms between Rika’s fingers. Its blue thread draws a clean line through the pale script, joining the mark around Rika’s boots to the stair below.

Ilyra’s shadow settles beside Rika’s instead of standing between her and the stair. The broken letters close into a single sentence, and the dark steps kindle with pale blue light.

The claimant’s seal releases with a soft stone sigh. The passage is open, and the joined route descends beneath Yuki’s inscription without demanding another name or memory.

Rika descends the opened passage toward Yuki, placing each foot on the pale blue-lit steps. Subterranean Orientation reads the shifting slope and keeps her weight over the soundest stone.

Her impulse to hurry surges ahead of her caution, a sharp expression of the reputation that has carried her into danger before. She checks that urge and slows without stopping.

The stair bends beneath the inscription, and Athletics carries Rika across a slanted section where the floor gives slightly under her boot. Her shoulder jolts against the wall, leaving a deep ache.

She steadies herself, then follows the route’s blue light through the final turn. The effort strains her bruised shoulder, but her footing holds and the descent reaches its lower landing.

Rika circles the lower landing, inspecting dust, stone edges, and the pale blue marks. Her impulse urges a quick glance toward the obvious stair, but she forces herself to examine the whole landing first.

Keen Senses separate old settling dust from fresh disturbances: two narrow boot impressions cross the landing, one heel dragging slightly. A faint trace of Yuki’s marked magic clings to the eastern wall.

Subterranean Orientation reads the masonry beneath the marks. The blue route did not continue down; it turned east through a concealed seam where the stone has been opened and closed recently.

Those are Yuki’s signs. Someone brought her through that eastern passage, and the route was sealed behind them.

Rika finds a shallow crescent scratched beside the seam, matching the access mark on Yuki’s token. Beneath it, a single strand of blue light points into darkness beyond the wall.

The landing tells us where she was taken. The hidden door is here, and whatever carried Yuki onward left the route waiting for her return.
