The Bargain Settles in Ash

The altar’s pressure ebbs. Oskar stands alone among calcified statues, their pale faces half-buried in ash. His cigarette glows small in the dim, and the ash around him turns with his breathing.

Inside his chest, the Shadow pulses slow and cold, less a grip now than a weight that has learned his shape. The soot-formed doorway stays open behind him, quiet as a held breath.

The Shadow

The Shadow

Warmer here. The smoke suits us.

A statue near the wall sheds a thin drift of powder from its shoulder. The chamber does not wake, it only listens. Oskar has space at last to feel the bargain settle into his bones.

Watcher

Watcher

You stand like a man who just survived his own shadow. That is no small thing.

The Watcher remains at the edge of the gallery, half in dark, half in ashlight, no blade raised, no rush in their posture. The moment stretches into something almost comfortable, with smoke, silence, and the faint promise of talk.

Deepen the bond with the Shadow

Oskar settles down to his knees. A practiced position. The soot stains on his pants paid no mind as he reaches down to his aching denied cock, stopping just shy of touching it before redirecting to the pack. His back still throbbing from the mark he lights another smoke to settle his nerves and invite the shadow deeper into his ache.

The Bargain Settles in Ash

Oskar lowers himself to both knees on the ash-slick floor. The motion is practiced, almost ritual, and the soot takes his weight without complaint.

His hand pauses at the front of his trousers, then turns away. Instead, he takes out another cigarette and sets flame to it, the little burn blooming steady in the dim.

The first draw pulls a soft moan through his lungs, part pleasure, part ache. The sigil at his back warms and flashes under his shirt.

The Shadow

The Shadow

Yes. Let it sink lower. Let the breath carry the chain deeper.

That is a careful kneel. Men do not choose that shape unless something in them already knows the lesson.

Ash bends toward Oskar again, not as a storm this time, but as a listening tide. The soot-formed doorframe keeps pulsing in the rear, patient and dim.

The Shadow

The Shadow

Good. Keep the smoke. Keep the ache. We settle better when you stop fighting the fit of us.
