The Shadow tightens around Oskar Solace’s lungs, pressing him toward the altar as the stone knot throbs with pale seam-light. Then the ash on the floor sloughs into black liquid, glossy as tar.
From the smoke, a flickering shape claws into being, a tortured gladiator-soul half lit, half torn apart by the haze. The chamber goes still around it.

The Gladiator Slave
Why do you bring the heart here?
The Shadow falls silent inside Oskar, recoiling just enough for the question to land. The Watcher stares, white-faced, as if a dead thing has spat in their palm.

The Gladiator Slave
Was my ending not enough? Did you come to feed the altar with what remains of me?

Watcher
By the ash... no. You were gone.

Oskar Solace
The heart still pulses at the altar.

Confront the gladiator-soul in the altar chamber
“Try to force the gladiator soul onto the alter to shred it and feed it to the shadow”
SUCCESS (Fair Strength, rolled +4)

Oskar drives the lurching spirit down toward the altar, and the smoke around it tears thin.
The gladiator-soul hits the black stone hard. Its flicker fractures across the seam-light, and ash-sheen splashes wide from the impact.
The Shadow surges back through Oskar’s chest, seizing the shred as it comes apart. The chamber tastes of burned memory.

The Gladiator Slave
No. Wait, I was bound here. I was made into this.

Watcher
The altar is taking him, Oskar. Look, the ring is answering.
The black liquid on the floor ripples inward, and a clean ash-mark blooms in the ring around the knot. Something inside the Spire recognizes the feeding.
Where the spirit tears open, a sliver of memory spills free, a sealed arena door, bloodless sand, and a hand pressing from the other side.
