The Elder’s home is hushed and warm, all woodsmoke, cider, and roasted roots. Xarsthos is led to the heavy oak table while the fire breathes low in the hearth.

Village Elder
Sit, please. You have earned a chair at this table, and more than one cup tonight.
He pours cider into a plain clay cup, the steam curling up between his hands. Bera lingers near the fire, shoulders easing at last as she watches Xarsthos settle in.

Bera
I did not think the square would feel quiet again. I am glad you are here.

Xarsthos
The cider smells sharp and sweet.

Village Elder
Oakhaven will remember this night. Not only the fighting, but the way you stood with us when it mattered.

Bera
If you stay awhile, there is work worth doing, and stories worth hearing.
The fire pops softly. For the first time in days, nothing demands a blade, only a breath and an answer.

“I sit and share a meal with Bera and the Elder”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Xarsthos takes the empty chair by the table and draws the bowl closer, the hearthlight sliding over his armor and hands. The room loosens around him as the others do the same.

Village Elder
Eat while it is hot. You have carried enough for one night.
He sets down a wooden platter of roasted roots, then sits across from Xarsthos with a careful, grateful exhale.

Bera
I kept thinking I would hear the ground split again. Instead, I smell supper.
Bera comes in from the hearth with a ladle, her shoulders lowered now, and serves the bowls without trembling.

Xarsthos
I am here now.

Village Elder
And that matters. Oakhaven needs more than a sword. It needs a man who stays long enough to be known.

Bera
Then tell us something true, Xarsthos. Something beyond battle.
The fire settles into a steady hush as three spoons move in the same warm circle, and both villagers wait for his answer.
