Xarsthos walks through Oakhaven’s square as the battle noise fades into wind and distant hammering. His sword gives off a soft, residual gold, like banked coals after a long fire.
Doors open one by one. Villagers step out with soot on their sleeves, staring at him with wide, grateful faces.

Bera
You came back. I thought the gate was done for.
Bera moves closer, still dusty and winded, her gaze fixed on the light along his blade.

Village Elder
You have my thanks, warrior. Come to the center of the square, where everyone can see the one who held the line.
The Village Elder lifts one hand toward the middle of the square, not as a command, but as an invitation. Around them, the villagers make room, their shoulders easing at last.

The Hooded Figure
Let them look, Xarsthos. A home begins when strangers choose to make space for you.
“I agree to the invitation and head to the town square”

Xarsthos gives a steady nod and crosses the square, boots ringing softly on the cobbles. The villagers part for him without fear now.
He stops at the center, beneath the lantern glow, and lets the sword rest low at his side. Its gold flicker catches in the drifting smoke.

Bera
I saw you in the graveyard, then at the breach. I did not know a single man could hold so much back from falling apart.

Village Elder
You stood for Oakhaven when others would have run. That earns more than thanks, it earns witness.

The Hooded Figure
Look at them, Xarsthos. They are not simply safe, they are choosing to remember you.

Bera
Stay long enough to let us know you, then. If this is to be your home, I want to see you at the hearth, not only in battle.

Village Elder
Come inside when you are ready. There is bread waiting, and a place at the table if you want it.
“"You are safe. You will never fear for you safety ever again. This is my sworn promise to you" i state to Bera. I then follow the village elder inside”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +0)

Xarsthos
You are safe. You will never fear for your safety again. This is my sworn promise to you.
Bera inhales sharply, then smiles through the smoke-stung light as if she is hearing the square itself settle around her.

Bera
Then I will hold you to it, Xarsthos. I want to believe that promise has a hearth in it.

Village Elder
Good. Let the words be spoken where the people can hear them. Oakhaven remembers those who stand for it.

The Hooded Figure
And some homes begin as a vow before they become a roof.
Xarsthos turns with the Elder and walks toward the open doorway, the crowd parting again, this time like kin making room at supper.

Bera
Come back to the hearth when you are done, Xarsthos. I will keep a place warm.
