The radio spits a broken confirmation, then dies under the crunch of boots on glass outside. The shelter suddenly feels too small, too bright, too exposed.

Mara
They tracked the signal... I brought them here.
Mara stares at the map chip on the shelf, then at Buster. Her face hardens, not with anger, but with the weight of a bad truth landing late.

Mara
Buster, I didn't expect them this fast. If I led them here on purpose, you'd know by now.
Another step hits the storefront door. The warped frame Buster braced trembles, but holds. Leo backs toward the inner wall, eyes wide, listening for the next impact.

Buster Jones
The door is still holding, for now.
Mara snatches the map chip from the shelf and holds it out, as if proof can survive the sound of the hunters closing in. Whether it is confession or another trap, Buster has to read her now, and decide whether to trust her or turn the shelter into a battlefield.

Get Leo and Mara to safety
“I grab Leo and Mara, shoving them toward the back exit before the door gives way.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +0)

Buster yanks Leo and Mara away from the front room in one hard sweep, putting his body between them and the door as the frame shudders again.

Buster Jones
Back exit. Move.
Leo stumbles, then catches pace as Buster drives them through the dusty rear hall. Mara clutches the map chip and turns with him, eyes fixed on the trembling front of the shop.

Leo
He just moved both of us at once...
A crash booms from the storefront. Glass rattles through the shelves, but the braced door still takes the blow for them.

Mara
That back door is warped too, but it opens.
She reaches it first and throws her weight into the latch. Daylight and alley grit spill through a narrow gap as the front room groans behind them.
Buster gets Leo to the threshold, and the three of them spill into the rear passage, leaving the hunters pounding on the wrong side of the building.

“I keep moving Leo and Mara down the alley”
SUCCESS (Legendary Athletics, rolled +2)

Buster keeps Leo and Mara moving, one steady shove of momentum after another, and the alley opens ahead of them instead of closing in.
Cold air hits their faces. The storefront stays behind them, still rattling with impact, but the rear exit gives them clean distance.

Leo
We’re out. He actually got us out.
Mara glances back once, map chip tight in her hand, then lowers her shoulders as the noise from the door fades into the brick.

Mara
Keep going. If they follow, they lose the shop.
Buster’s pace holds. Leo falls in beside him, and the three of them reach the mouth of the alley together, clear of the storefront and no longer pinned to the door.
Behind them, the pounding still shakes the building, but it is now only sound, not a trap around their feet.
“I keep Leo and Mara moving down the alley”
SUCCESS (Legendary Athletics, rolled -1)

Buster keeps the pace hard and even, and Leo and Mara fall in behind him without breaking stride. The alley becomes a line of escape, not a corner.

Leo
Okay. Okay, I am moving. I am definitely moving.
Mara tightens her grip on the map chip, then tucks it closer as she watches the storefront shrink behind brick and shadow.

Mara
They do not get a second grab at us. Keep left, the alley bends there.
Buster drives them past the bend, and the pounding at the storefront door fades into a distant hammering. The shop is no longer pinning them in place.

Leo
We are actually out of the room.
Ahead, the alley mouth opens toward street noise and cold light. Behind them, the hunters are still at the storefront, but the chase has lost its choke point.
