The bulkhead grinds open, and a vast machine chamber swallows the corridor light. Conduits pulse blue-white overhead, while warning strobes wash the floor in red.
The Hunter Captain stops short. Her wrist device spits static, and one of the ceiling rigs swings toward her command signal instead of obeying it.

Mara
That is not supposed to happen.
A spark leaps from a hanging cable, and a side gantry locks with a harsh clang. The chamber is shifting around them, sealing routes and opening others.

Mara
Buster Jones, move. If you want out of here, you help me through this.

Buster Jones
The control system is fighting her now.
For the first time, the Captain has no clean threat to hold over him. She needs Buster alive, upright, and leading through the unstable chamber, and that gives him a narrow opening to turn the hunt back on her.

Confront the Hunter Captain
“I tell the captain that if i help her she must stop her hunting of innocent mutants at once”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)

Buster Jones
If you want my help, you stop hunting innocent mutants. At once.

Mara
...You think I can bargain while the chamber is taking my commands apart?
The Captain looks past him, at the shifting gantries and the dead channels on her wrist device. For the first time, her authority has to answer to the machine instead of the other way around.

Mara
Say it clearly, Buster Jones. You help me through this chamber, and I call off the hunt on the innocent.
A tremor rolls through the floor. Somewhere deeper in the facility, metal slams against metal, and the red light flickers over her tight jaw.

Buster Jones
She finally has to listen.
The Hunter Captain lowers her wrist, not in surrender, but in consent. The chamber still shifts around them, yet the balance in the room changes, and she waits on Buster's next move.
