Sil’Thalis and Bren emerge onto the open shore beneath a paling sky. Behind them, the silver route seals to a quiet line, while the cavern’s truth remains preserved without authority.

Bren
The sanctuary witnessed what you gave it, but it does not rule us. Its covenant is evidence, not a command.
Salt wind moves across the stones. The divided record rests between them, carrying Sil’Thalis’s testimony separately from Bren’s observations and from every older account.

Bren
Sereveth still keeps the willow boundary, and Vaeluun carries only what was freely entrusted. We can return to them, follow another road, or part here.

Bren
He came back as himself, and the shore gives me no reason to turn companionship into obligation.
Far along the coast, unclaimed paths disappear among cliffs and tide pools. Inland, the road toward Phandelver waits beneath the ordinary world, carrying Domini’s unfinished pressures and Voss’s unresolved trail.

Bren
I will choose my course when you choose yours, Sil’Thalis. Together or separately, neither path will speak for the other.

Bring down both Domini and Xar
“I turn toward the path back to Sereveth and Vaeluun. “I intend to return to them, lass. What road you choose is yours.” I begin walking without assuming Bren will follow.”

Sil'Thalis
I intend to return to them, lass. What road you choose is yours.
Sil’Thalis turns inland toward the path leading back to Sereveth and Vaeluun. He begins walking at an even pace, leaving the choice of companionship behind him.

Bren
Then I choose to walk with you, for this road. Not because your choice commands mine, but because I freely make it.
Bren follows at a respectful distance, carrying her own observations while the divided record remains separate between them. Neither the sealed route nor the sanctuary calls them back.

Bren
We will return to the willow boundary, report only what was entrusted, and leave the sanctuary’s covenant as evidence rather than law.
The shore recedes behind them beneath the brightening sky. Ahead, the road bends toward running water, where Sereveth keeps watch and Vaeluun’s invitation remains open without demand.
Sil’Thalis walks onward as himself, carrying truth without inheritance, authority without ownership, and a future no single record can decide. The coast falls quiet behind their chosen steps.

Behind them, the silver route folded shut, leaving only open shore, wind, and the long inland road.

Bren
Evidence, not law. I walk beside you by my choice, Sil'Thalis, not the sanctuary's.

Sil'Thalis
Then we walk as two free witnesses. Sereveth and Vaeluun can hear what we found, and decide for themselves.
Bren nodded, keeping his own record as the two turned toward running water and the willow boundary.
The sealed cavern receded behind them, its truth preserved without throne, priest, or command to wield it. Sil'Thalis and Bren walked inland toward Sereveth and Vaeluun, allied for this road yet answerable to themselves. Beyond the shore, the roads to the coast and Phandelver remained open, and the future belonged to those who chose it.
