The refuge settles into a low murmur beneath the running stone. The ward-stone holds its pale blue boundary beyond the waterline, while Sil’Thalis and Bren remain beside Veyr at the threshold.

Sereveth gathers near the hollow’s inner ring, and Vaeluun’s presence moves through the glowing stream. The freed void-born keep separate places along the banks, with no single voice raised above the others.

Vaeluun

Some threads still change when offered distance, memory, and a choice of return. Others carry so much imposed shape that change may mean learning a self from the beginning.

Sereveth

Sereveth

The first intake did not alter them equally. Those marked only by copied names can recover distinction. Those formed around repeated refusals may need time before any answer belongs wholly to them.

Several wavering forms brighten at the word recover. Others remain dim and motionless, their pale sparks circling inward as though language itself has become an uncertain threshold.

Then no path will be assigned by resemblance, damage, or usefulness. Each may approach the water, remain beyond it, or withdraw without being named ungrateful.

Bren

Bren

I will keep the accounts separate. What changes, what refuses change, and what cannot yet answer will remain distinct until the evidence says otherwise.

“Having a moment to breathe freely I rub my arm and I ask if I may have a small spot to meditate, I imply that it helps strengthen my resolve, balance my energy, replenish my stores of magic energy with out forcing it, and heal. My implying nature is subtlely directed to Veyra.”

SUCCESS (Good Persuasion, rolled +1)

Choices Beneath the Running Stone

Sil’Thalis rubs his heavy arm, feeling the dark reserve settle beneath the scars. The refuge’s quiet water leaves room for breath, balance, and deliberate recovery.

Sil'Thalis

Sil'Thalis

Veyr, may I have a small place here to meditate? It would help me strengthen my resolve, balance the energy, replenish what I can without forcing it, and heal.

Veyr

Veyr

You may. Choose a place that does not become a claim, and leave whenever you wish. I will not mistake your restoration for allegiance.

Veyr indicates a smooth shelf beside the stream, outside the inner ring but within the ward-stone’s protection. Blue light gathers there without touching Sil’Thalis or directing his choice.

Bren

Bren

I will witness only what changes visibly. The refuge remains yours to use, Veyr’s to share, and no account will turn your rest into obligation.

Sereveth

Sereveth

The stone will reject force and admit willing passage. Sit there, and the hollow will neither demand an answer nor measure your healing.

The small place is granted and clear. Running water murmurs beside the stone shelf as Sil’Thalis’s scar-born circuit settles, ready to replenish without coercion.

“I go into deep meditation trance for healing, replenishment, and renewed focus”

SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +3)

Choices Beneath the Running Stone

Sil’Thalis settles on the smooth shelf beside the stream and enters a deep meditative trance. The running water becomes a steady measure beneath his breath and stillness.

Scar-born power draws inward without force. The dark crescent’s spread stops at his collarbone, numbness recedes from his arm, and the heavy reserve begins replenishing through quiet, even currents.

Bren

Bren

His breathing has steadied. I will record recovery, restored focus, and no visible alteration to the refuge or its boundaries.

The trance deepens. Pain separates from spellwork, the seven charges settle into distinct channels, and Sil’Thalis’s damaged focus closes into a precise, usable pattern.

Veyr

Veyr

The hollow does not claim him. His restoration remains his own, and the water has accepted his presence without asking anything in return.

When the meditation completes, his arm answers cleanly, his reserve is substantially replenished, and his concentration is renewed. An unmarked current beneath the refuge becomes visible to him, revealing a quiet path toward deeper sanctuary chambers.

Sereveth

Sereveth

You have found the lower current without disturbing it. It leads to places the archive never mapped, and it will remain open whether you follow it or not.
