Wind claws the barren ridge. Below, the ruined village lies broken and dim. Serelith and the Hunter Captain hold the last slope, weapons glowing white in trembling hands, while the larger source behind them stirs beneath the stone.

Hold fast. If it wakes fully, we all burn.

Back away, beast. We only want the thing under the ridge.

The ground splits with a sickly pulse of violet light. From the crack, the Elder's influence rises, not as a man, but as a towering shape of judgment and hunger, stitched from ash, rune-light, and old grief. The hunters recoil as the ridge trembles.

Serelith

Serelith

Not enough... we are too late.

Tarran stands at the crest, bloodied stone underfoot, the dead beacon dust scattering in the wind. The hunters are broken, the source is exposed, and the whole ridge waits on the next terrible move.

Tarran consumed the elder's apparition once, she can do it again.

Tarran lunges at the violet shape as it rises, jaws opening wide over the split stone.

Her maw closes through ash and rune-light. The Elder's influence buckles, then pours into her hunger like smoke into a furnace.

The wrathful glow shudders out. The fissure dims, and the ridge stops shaking beneath her feet.

Serelith

Serelith

No... it is gone.

Fall back. Now. Leave the ridge.

Serelith and the Hunter Captain retreat in stunned fear, white weapons dropping into the dust as the wind tears over the broken ground.

Only dead beacon dust, scattered steel, and the cooling crack remain where the judgment stood. Tarran is left alone above the ruined village, full and still.

The Elder's Influence Awakens

The ridge fell silent as the spectral blaze guttered out.

No. Not like this.

Fall back. Now.

All of it. Mine.

They fled into the dark, leaving only the cracked stone and Tarran's slow, satisfied breath.

The Elder's grip was gone, and the territory stood empty at last. Tarran remained at the ridge, sated by what she had taken, while the hunters scattered with their certainty broken. Far beyond the wounded ground, older powers had noticed the hunger that erased a god's shadow.
