Tarran's Story - Hunger Consumes the Horizon

The faint humming Tarran follows swells as she nears the ruined village. Beneath the shattered chalk charm, the shards begin to pulse with hard white light, bright enough to bite through dusk.

The ground trembles under her claws. The glow sharpens, not like a ward holding fast, but like a signal answering back.

From beyond the ridge, something vast shifts in the dark. A long, hunting cry rolls over the wreckage, and the humming turns eager, as if it has finally been heard.

Stone dust skitters from the broken walls. The charm’s fragments flare again, pointing outward, away from the village, toward the oncoming presence.

The truth lands hard. The charm was never a shield. It was a beacon, left to call something hungry, something that knows Tarran is here.

The cry comes closer, and the ruins answer with trembling silence.

Tarran lunges up the ridge as the white glow spits dust from the stones. The Stranger meets her head on, and the impact drives a crack through the earth.

Claws rake. The Stranger is already too close, but Tarran’s jaws close first, crushing through its guard and throwing its hunt sideways.

The predator reels into the broken charm. White light bursts across its body, then gutters under Tarran’s weight.

Tarran answers with another brutal shove, and the Stranger loses its footing at the edge of the ridge.

Stone slides. The hunting cry cuts off in a choked snarl as the Stranger drops back into the dusk below, stripped of the high ground.

The beacon still burns in the rubble, but the ridge is silent now. Cold judgment seems to hang over the shattered charm as Tarran stands over it, unchallenged.
