Horn blasts roll up the ridge, colder and more measured than any village alarm. Below, armored hunters fan out through the scrub, their pale blades answering Tarran's blood and chalk dust with a hard white gleam.
They do not rush blind. Four take the slope, three hold the base, the rest spread wide to cut off any charge or retreat. Their helms turn in unison toward the ridge top, toward Tarran.
One figure steps half a pace ahead of the others, cloak snapping in the wind. A tall woman in silver mail raises her hand, and the horns fall quiet for a breath.

Serelith
Beast of the ridge, lay down. We end this cleanly, or we burn the hill around you.

Tarran
Food.
The hunters answer by lifting their glowing weapons in a practiced arc, the white light gathering along their edges as they begin the climb.
Tarran stands alone above them, and the shape of the fight becomes plain, these are not frightened villagers. These are killers sent to stop her hunger.
“Tarran swings her tail at those flanking her.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +4)

Tarran whips her tail across the ridge face. Stone chips fly as the sweeping blow catches the flankers in their climb, knocking one hunter sideways and forcing the others to break stride.
Hunter Two loses their footing and tumbles hard into the scrub below. Hunter Three is slammed against a broken ledge, their glowing weapon spinning from their grip.

Hunter Captain
Hold the line. Do not let it take the crest.
The rush of the climb falters. A narrow path opens where the flankers were, and Serelith's rank hesitates at the sudden gap.

Serelith
There. She is on the ridge alone. Drive in.
One dropped blade lands point-down in the chalk dust near Tarran's feet, still glowing white in her shadow.

Tarran
Food and blades on the ground.

“Tarran starts consuming the hunters.”
SUCCESS (Legendary Devouring, rolled +0)

Tarran lunges low and clamps down on the nearest hunter in the broken line. Glowing steel flashes once, then disappears under her jaws as she bites through armor, breath, and alarm.
Another hunter stumbles in to help, but her maw catches them by the shoulder and drags them off the slope. Chalk dust bursts around her teeth as their cry cuts short.

Serelith
Back. Break contact!
The ridge answers with panic. One hunter scrambles downhill, dropping a white-glowing blade that skitters across blood-slick stone.
Hunter Captain plants their feet, but the remaining line folds under Tarran's chewing and shoving. The opened gap widens into retreat.

Hunter Captain
Fall back. Horn, now!
A horn sounds from below the ridge as the hunters pull away into the scrub, leaving only Serelith still high on the slope, staring up through the dust.
