The moor splits with a deep, grinding groan. Scorched mist coils over a fresh裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂裂口 and black roots heave up from below, wet with old light. The debt is not a curse in the air, it is a heart beneath the ground.

Sable
There. That is the root of it. We end this now, or it keeps feeding.
Sable plants her shield beside Butch and squares herself to the裂 opening, jaw set, eyes bright with fear she refuses to let win. The sigils on both of them flicker once, like a shared breath catching.
The light below is older than the crossroads.
A colossal shape stirs in the depths, not rising yet, only turning in its sleep. The roots tighten, as if waiting to be fed another name, another toll, another bargain.

Sable
Butch, your move. Cut the bond, break the root, or drag the thing into the open.
“Cut the bond, break the root and drag the thing into the open”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +2)
Butch wrenches his axe down through the black roots. The nearest tangle splits with a wet crack, and the glow below surges upward, suddenly exposed in a bright, open wound beneath the moor.
The roots jerk hard in his grip, then peel back from the fissure like snapped reins. Dust and ash spill free as the hidden shape beneath the earth is forced into the light.

Sable
That is it. Hold it there.
Sable shifts forward, shield raised, watching the opening as the shared sigil on both of them steadies into a firmer pulse.
Below, the colossal presence rolls once in the dark, no longer sheltered by roots and tolls. The moor answers with a long, shuddering groan.

Sable
It feels us now.
The fissure widens just enough to show a vast, ancient curve beneath the light, still and waiting. For the first time, the thing under the moor is not hidden.

Sable
There. Hold steady, Butch.

Butch the Wereboar
Then let it break.
Butch drove the axe down once more, and the black roots gave way in a shower of wet earth and pale sparks. Sable planted her shield at the fissure's lip as the moor shuddered and the light swallowed the debt-sigil whole.

Sable
It is done.
The bond was severed, and the curse beneath the moor lost its hold. Where the sigil once burned, there was only broken turf, cold wind, and a silence that felt earned. Butch and Sable stood in the clearing dusk, joined now by choice, not debt.
