At Pendennis Castle, the sealed intelligence cache, signed statements, and Ned’s detailed account lie arranged before the Viscount. Mara’s journey ledger records every custody change, while the three hunters remain under guard nearby.

The Viscount
These materials establish a formal Crown case against Josiah Vane: conspiracy, obstruction of lawful intelligence, and an attempt to destroy evidence. I will endorse the charge, but every witness must be preserved.
He presses his signet into hot wax beside the written charge, then adds a separate endorsement authorizing Arrus to deliver the cache and testimony directly to the Crown’s authorities.

Mara Trevithick
The Exchange, the schools, and our intelligence work remain separate accounts. This case strengthens all three only if custody and authority stay plainly recorded.

The Viscount
Agreed. Mara retains authority over the Exchange and its charitable work. Arrus carries the Crown case as my endorsed envoy, not as her superior.
The Viscount’s clerk prepares duplicate warrants, while the Quartermaster checks the prisoners’ restraints and the cache seals. No document leaves the table without Mara’s countersignature.

The Viscount
The endorsement and formal charge are ready. When you present them, the Crown will have witnesses, evidence, and a lawful chain of custody. The next decision belongs to you.

“I will await Josiah Vane's arrest and delivery to Pendennis Castle. Once Vane's confessions and testimony are documented, the other two bounty hunters could be released, but I will once again prepare another expedition to London and the Royal Palace, where I will deliver the intelligence cache, along with the new additions of Ned's recorded informant testimony and both Hugh Sayer as a witness to testify against Vane, and Josiah Vane himself. If the mounting witnesses and evidence likely to convict him of serious crimes isn't enough to scare Josiah Vane into revealing his own involvement with wider crimes in Cornwall, I will personally attempt intimidating and manipulating him into total confession about the criminal networks operating in Cornwall and elsewhere in the Kingdom. I will use fear of humiliation amongst everyone he knows followed by a miserable life in a dungeon to persuade Josiah into the better-sounding option of possible leniency for full cooperation.”

Josiah Vane is brought to Pendennis Castle under guard, his wrists secured and his former confidence gone. The Viscount receives him before the signed statements, sealed cache, and witness accounts.
Mara records Vane’s custody and every document placed before him. Ned Verran and Hugh Sayer remain available as witnesses, while Elias Croft waits separately for the Viscount’s decision.

The Viscount
Josiah Vane, the evidence and testimony already establish grave crimes. Full cooperation may preserve your life and liberty; silence will leave you to the dungeon and public disgrace.

Josiah Vane
Then record everything. I directed the brokers, paid the watchers, concealed Crown revenue, and protected networks reaching beyond Cornwall. I will name every associate and account.
His confession is taken down, witnessed, and sealed beside Ned’s informant testimony and Hugh’s statement. The wider network now has names, routes, payments, and a living source willing to testify.
With Vane’s cooperation secured, the Viscount releases Elias and Ned from confinement under written summons, while Hugh remains available as a Crown witness. No evidence or custody record is left uncertain.
The cache, Vane’s confession, and the witnesses are prepared for the next journey to London and the Royal Palace. Mara’s accounts remain independent, the schools remain funded, and the Crown case stands ready for judgment.
