The Relic's Truth and the Fracturing Ledge

Snow lashes the northern spire ledge. The Magistrate stands behind a rune-carved brink, one hand on the stone, the other near a warded staff. The relic in Enanita's grip burns gold, and the fractured ledge groans under everyone’s weight.

The Magistrate

The Magistrate

Put it down, girl. Walk away and I will forget your name.

Veyl

Veyl

He lies. That is what he does best.

Brann

If the wards break, the whole platform may go with them.

The Magistrate’s seal shivers as the relic answers him. Old light crawls over the stonework, exposing hidden names, erased ledgers, and the shape of a stolen bloodline.

The Magistrate

The Magistrate

You think truth makes you strong? It only makes you visible.

Veyl steps forward, palm open toward the relic, while Brann reaches for her arm and stops short. The wind tears at their cloaks as the warding glyphs crackle brighter.

Enanita stands at the center of it all, relic in hand, the Magistrate before her, Veyl at her side, and the spire trembling around them. One choice can shatter his power, or spare the bond she has just found.

Is the Magistrate about to flee?

EXCEPTIONAL YES (Unlikely, rolled 3)

The Relic's Truth and the Fracturing Ledge

The Magistrate's eyes dart toward the crumbling cliff edge behind him, his grip on the staff loosening as he calculates a desperate escape route through the storm.

The Magistrate

The Magistrate

The relic has already stripped away my defenses. If I stay, I lose everything. If I jump, I might survive to rebuild.

Enanita

Enanita

He is already looking for the path down, his weight shifting away from the fight.

I rush the Magistrate before he jumps

SUCCESS (Good Agility, rolled +0)

The Relic's Truth and the Fracturing Ledge

Enanita lunges through the blowing snow and slams into the Magistrate’s turn, driving him off balance before his jump can begin.

The Magistrate

The Magistrate

No, wait, the ledge, I can still...

His staff jerks sideways, ward-light skittering across the broken stone as he stumbles back from the brink.

Veyl

Veyl

You cannot outrun what you have done.

The relic’s glow catches the spire wards, and the hidden corruption flashes across the cliff face like black veins in the ice.

Brann

Brann

The path is still there. If he runs, he takes us with him. Keep him still.

The Magistrate braces himself on the fractured edge, wild-eyed, while the stone crumbles under all three of them.

He is not going anywhere.

Then he falls into the truth, not the mountain.

The Magistrate

The Magistrate

No, no, this cannot be the end.

Stone broke away under their boots, and the wind took the Magistrate's protest with it.

Enanita left the mountain with the Magistrate bound and exposed, his stolen power dragged into the light. Behind them, the ledge split and vanished into the chasm, sealing away his last path of escape. For the first time in years, the valley below could look upward without fear.
