The blast door hangs open just enough for a man-sized slip of freedom. Cold air spills in, clean and bright, while boots pound closer behind Oni Sakurai.
The Kid hovers at her shoulder, tense and ready. The Mutated Creature stays low, eyes fixed on the gap, waiting for her lead.
A hard voice cuts down the corridor. "Assets are leaving the site. Seal them in."

Oni Sakurai
Go. Now.
Oni drives forward, planting herself between the pursuers and the pair behind her. Her club rises as the first security shapes break into view.
The Kid darts for the opening. The Mutated Creature follows, stumbling once, then lunging after them into the cold air beyond the door.
The lead guard skids to a stop at Oni's feet, too close to pass, while more boots stack up behind him in the narrowing hall.
“I hold off the guards at the junction”
SUCCESS (Great Brawling, rolled +2)

Oni meets the guard’s rush head-on. Her club knocks the man’s balance sideways, and his momentum dies against her block instead of the door.
The first rank behind him bunches up in the narrow hall. She plants another shove into the line, turning their charge into a jam of armor, boots, and shouted orders.

The Lead Guard
Move! Get her down!
The command lands too late. Oni keeps the corridor pinned, forcing the guards to hesitate at the junction while the open blast door stays clear behind her.

Oni Sakurai
Keep going.
The Kid and the Mutated Creature vanish into the cold spill beyond the threshold, their footsteps fading as the club’s bass thumps faintly through the walls.
For a heartbeat, the junction belongs to Oni alone, the guards checked, the exit behind her still open, and the next wave of security gathering in the dark.
“I drive the guards back again”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +0)

Oni drives forward again, and the front rank gives ground in a scrape of boots and metal. The narrow hall opens for a heartbeat, just enough to break their line.

The Lead Guard
Hold the junction! Do not let her reset!
The guards stagger back two steps, then a third, crowded shoulder to shoulder by the blast door. Cold air keeps spilling past Oni into the maintenance corridor.

Oni Sakurai
Back off.
Her shove forces the nearest helmets to dip and the line to break wider, leaving the doorway clear behind her.

The Lead Guard
She is buying them time. Cut around, now.
From deeper in the dark, fresh boots answer the order, and a second squad starts to fan toward the side passage.
“I cut off the side passage”
SUCCESS (Legendary Strength, rolled +0)

Oni slams her shoulder into the side passage mouth, and the first man in from the dark skids off the frame with his rifle clipped aside. The corridor narrows into a choke point of elbows and concrete.
A second guard tries to edge through, but Oni’s club and body mass pin the opening shut. No one gets a clean angle past her.

The Lead Guard
You heard me. Fall back and seal it!
The approaching squad bunches up behind the first rank, forced to halt at the bend. Cold air keeps pouring from the open blast door behind Oni, carrying the muffled thump of club music from above.

Oni Sakurai
The side passage is blocked.
For one beat, the flank is dead, but the guards have turned the junction into a boxed-in stand, with the open surface route still exposed behind her.

The Lead Guard
Hold her there. Push on my mark!
“I hold the junction and bargain with the guards”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -1)
Oni eases the pressure on the passage just enough to speak, keeping her club planted in place. The lead guard slows, reading her stance instead of charging it.

Oni Sakurai
You can still walk away.

The Lead Guard
Walk away? You shattered our containment and let the assets run.
His squad stays jammed at the bend behind him, rifles angled but not firing. The open blast door throws cold air across the floor between them.

The Lead Guard
If you want the truth, fine. We were paid to keep this buried, not to babysit a monster in a tank.
The words land hard in the metal hum of the junction, with the club’s muffled bass still pulsing above. For a moment, the guards look less certain than hostile.

The Lead Guard
Take the door. We keep the tunnel. Nobody has to die here.
“I tell the lead guard to stand down”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +1)

Oni Sakurai
Stand down. This is over.

The Lead Guard
He hesitates, jaw tight, then lowers his rifle a fraction. “...If I do that, my people live?”
The side passage stays jammed and the blast door keeps breathing cold air into the junction. Behind the lead guard, the stalled squad shifts instead of advancing.

The Lead Guard
We were hired to contain a secret, not to die for it. Tell me you can make this stop.
For the first time, the rifles dip toward the floor. The club’s bass thuds faintly overhead, distant now, almost like a heartbeat.

The Lead Guard
The kid and the other one got out, didn’t they? Then let the rest of us walk.
No one moves to fire. The corridor holds its breath, waiting for Oni to answer.
“I head through the blast door”
SUCCESS (Legendary Agility, rolled +1)
