Hrokk steps back, one hand lifting in farewell as the Thruhhul giants tug their carts toward the higher trails. The iron rims clink softly under tarp and rope, fading into the mist.
Druk watches the last giant shapes shrink into the white weather. Bruk and Roggo stand nearby, the yard quieting around them as the trade caravan disappears into the mountains.

The wind drags a cold hiss across the yard. For a moment, only the cairn path and the carts' fading tracks remain, leading up into the gray.

Druk turns from the misted yard and heads back through the gate toward Worr Croa. The quiet of the departure hangs behind him as the castle mouth swallows the wind.
Inside the forge corridor, a page waits with a wrapped bundle and a pleased look. Roggo trails after, already counting the steps between the yard and the workshop.

The troop-sized crowsbows are finished, my lord. Three prototypes, and the smiths added the shoulder straps you asked for.
Druk takes the bundle and heads straight to the workbench. The cloth comes away to reveal compact crossbows, dark wood and iron, built with thick prods and broad grips.
He tests one in his hands, then another. The braces sit steady, and the new trigger guard leaves room even for a heavy glove.

The second latch runs smoother than the first.
Roggo
That one will suit the rank and file best. I had the smiths overbuild the stock for ogre shoulders.
Druk sets the chosen prototype aside for the armory and taps the other two with approval. Roggo nods, already thinking of how many can be copied.
