The path Rozah holds open starts to writhe under the stone ring. Pale roots bulge from the soil, then split with jagged, bone-white teeth. The forest is not blocking them anymore, it is tasting them.
The roots are alive. They are choosing hunger.

Old Snarl
Hold it, Rozah. Keep the way open. Whatever this wants, do not let it take the tribe.
A cold pressure pushes against Rozah's mind through the roots, patient and huge. The same force that once only guarded the ring now presses for a bargain, and the bargain is meat, blood, and more goblins.

Hooded Rider
I told you it was never a gate. It is growing into a mouth. Feed it, or it takes the path and the tribe with it.
Rozah's violet roots tremble, caught between command and craving. Beyond the ring, the gathered tribe freezes as the toothy roots sniff the air toward them like a predator learning a trail.

Sate the forest’s hunger
“I command the roots to feed on old snarl”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled -2)

Rozah pushes her will down through the violet roots. They snap toward Old Snarl like starving jaws finding bone.
The ground under his boots splits wide. Pale teeth of root wrap his ankles, then his knees, and drag him off balance at the stone ring.

Old Snarl
Rozah, wait. That is not what I meant.

Rozah the Goblin
Snarl is the first thing they grab.
His smug smile breaks at last as the roots bite deeper, and a hard pulse shudders through the ring. The bone charms rattle like teeth in a skull.
Rozah pays for the command with a hot tear across her forearm, but the roots obey. Their hunger shifts, fast and greedy, from the tribe to Old Snarl.

Hooded Rider
Now, Rozah. Keep feeding that command, or they will turn back to the rest of us.
Old Snarl is trapped in the roots at the ring, still fighting, while the path behind him holds open in a trembling, hungry silence.
“I keep feeding the roots Old Snarl”
SUCCESS (Legendary Willpower, rolled +2)

Rozah holds the line and does not let go. The roots tighten their grip on Old Snarl, then settle into him like a snare finding its prize.
The pale teeth along the vines stop snapping at the path behind him. Their hunger narrows, focused and satisfied by the body in their grasp.

Old Snarl
Ha... good. Keep it there, Rozah.
His voice comes rough, but the strain eases from the ring. The bone charms rattle once, then again, softer.

Hooded Rider
That is it. The maw has taken its fill from him for now.
The dark path through the trees holds open, trembling but clear, while the forest around the ring stays unnaturally still.

Rozah the Goblin
The roots listen when I push them hard enough.
