The camp boils with motion. Goblins haul logs to the palisade, and the loot pile sits higher in the center, half-covered in tarps and stolen cloth. A small dark stain freckles the dirt beside the treasure chest.

Old Snarl drags the Patriarch from the shadows and plants him where everyone can see. The nobleman stumbles, pale and furious, as the goblins turn to stare.

The Patriarch

The Patriarch

You think a heap of spears and mud walls will save you? My family is already coming.

At the palisade, a pair of goblins wedge fresh logs into place. Others tighten rope bindings around spear shafts, glancing from Rozah to the captive and back again.

Let them come. Rozah chose the treasure, and now every fang in this camp stands with her.

They are making the camp ready for a fight.

The Patriarch’s eyes lock on the loot pile, then on Rozah, as if measuring the cost of taking it back. The tribe answers with a hard, hungry silence.

Old Snarl

Rozah seizes the Patriarch by his collar and shoves hard. He stumbles backward toward the palisade, boots slipping in the wet dirt.

The nobleman catches himself on a fresh log, breath punching out of him. His gaze flicks to Rozah's cut hand, and then to the armed goblins watching.

The Patriarch

The Patriarch

You parade me like spoil, goblin. My family will answer this insult in blood.

Old Snarl

Old Snarl

Good. Let him see the wall. Let him see the tribe.

A few goblins slam spear butts into the mud and snarl back at the captive. Others tense, grinning too wide, as if his threat only feeds them.

The Patriarch's defiance costs Rozah a smear of blood on her fingers, but it also pins every eye in camp to the same question. War, or shame.
