The radio on Justin Forester’s lap gives the same high, thin pulse he found back at the burning field set. He twists the dials again, and the tone sharpens, not into command, but into a stuttering encrypted chatter.

Justin Forester
It is not broken. It is talking back.
Sgt. Douglas leans in through the truck’s jouncing cab, eyes fixed on the handset. The road buckles under the tires, sparks snapping from the tailgate behind them.

Sgt. Douglas
That is not our net. Cut it.
Justin yanks the lead free. The pulses die, then spit once more from the speaker, as if the set is still sending their trail into the dark.
Douglas stares at the dead handset, then at the smoke swallowing FOB Dagger behind them. The rally point order suddenly feels poisoned, like the same voice could have been pulling them into a trap.

Daniel North
The radio was feeding someone their position.
✓ Quest Accepted
Destroy the compromised radio
“Daniel rips the batteries from the compromised radio. "Figure it out later, Kid." He says to Justin.”
SUCCESS (Superb Strength, rolled +0)

Daniel hooks two fingers under the radio cradle and rips the battery pack free. The set goes dead in Justin’s lap, its speaker swallowing the last of that crawling chatter.

Daniel North
Figure it out later, kid.

Justin Forester
He stares at the empty housing, stunned more than angry, the threat in the sound finally gone.

Sgt. Douglas
Good. Dead is safer than talking.
The truck bucks over a seam in the road. Behind them, the FOB smokes in a dirty smear, and the abandoned transmission vanishes with the batteries in Daniel’s fist.

Justin Forester
If that net was leeching our position, they still may have had enough to work with.
Douglas looks past the tailgate, then back to the silent radio shell, measuring the road ahead like it might answer him.

Sgt. Douglas
Then we move smart. No more chatter until we know who is listening.
