Bobby kills the engine, and the warehouse lane falls into a hot, ringing quiet. Tire haze drifts low over the pavement. The hypercar glides up beside him, polished and calm after the chaos of the finish.

Its tinted windows roll down. Inside, a cheetah with bright, guarded eyes studies Bobby through the fading smoke. Jax jogs in from the sideline, grinning like he just watched history happen.

King

King

That was clean. I did not expect you to hold the line like that.

Jax

Jax

Bobby, meet King. King, this is Bobby, the one I kept telling you about.

King

King

I am listening now. If you are the one who beat me here, I want to know how you drive like that.

Jax gestures between them, practically vibrating with pride, while the last of the tire haze thins around the finish markers and banner.

Race King again

"I'll tell you once I figure it out myself, I want to know how I drive like that too," Bobby jokes humbly. "Before tonight I didn't think it was possible to beat a hypercar in this. It was just... instinct."

I’ll tell you once I figure it out myself. I want to know how I drive like that too.

Bobby

Bobby

Before tonight, I didn’t think it was possible to beat a hypercar in this. It was just... instinct.

The joke lands light, and the tension in the lane eases a notch. Jax’s grin widens, but he lets King take the lead.

King

King

Instinct, right. That is what I missed.

King

King

He is not bluffing. He feels the car, then uses it.

King tilts his head, studying Bobby with fresh interest, then gives a small, reluctant nod toward the finish marks.

King

King

Show me your line once more, slowly. I want to see where you turn in, and where you let the car breathe.

Jax points down the lane, already eager to watch Bobby explain it with the road instead of words. The smoke keeps thinning, and both racers wait for Bobby’s answer.

"I'll do my best, I honestly don't know if I can repeat that. But first, I need to let my engine cool, and look it over. I've run it pretty hard tonight between two races."

Bobby nods once, then pops the hood and leans in over the warm engine. The finish lane falls quiet around the ticking metal.

Bobby

Bobby

I need a minute to let it cool, and then I want to check everything over. I pushed it hard tonight.

King steps closer, peering past Bobby into the engine bay. Jax slows his pointing hand and watches Bobby work like the answer might be hidden under the hood.

King

King

That makes sense. Show me what changed, and what you heard when it started to move right.

The heat rolls out in a thin wave. Bobby spots fresh rubber dust on the intake and a slightly loose clamp near the side of the bay, both easy to miss at speed.

Bobby

Bobby

The clamp is out of place. That might be part of it.

He tightens the clamp, checks the routing, and gives the engine a final look. The car idles steadier, almost eager, as if it has settled into itself.

Jax

Jax

There it is. You found something already.

King studies Bobby, then the engine, then the lane beyond the banner. His ears lift with recognition, and he looks ready for Bobby to explain the rest.

"It felt... fluid. Almost as if wherever I wanted it to go, it would just go there on the turn. I saw that your superior power left me a lot of freedom to use that. I don't know how, but somehow my tires didn't give way on wide open throttle through a standard line that kissed the apex. It wasn't fancy, but it felt... strange."

King straightens from the hood and makes a small, sharp nod, like a theory just clicked into place.

King

King

It is not just power. You are loading the front, then letting the rear follow without fighting it.

Bobby

Bobby

That matches the way it felt from the seat.

Jax lets out a low whistle and folds his arms, grinning at Bobby and the engine.

Jax

Jax

So that's the trick, huh? You make the car settle instead of wrestle.

King

King

And the tires stay planted because you are not asking for more grip than the chassis can give.

King crouches by the front wheel, points at the line Bobby took, and traces a clean arc in the air.

King

King

Wide throttle, standard line, apex touched cleanly. You feel the slip before it becomes waste. That is what I needed to see.

He rises with a pleased, thoughtful look, as if Bobby has handed him a useful secret instead of an explanation.

King

King

Show me once more from the seat, and I want the exact moment your hands stop correcting.

"Engine feels cool now, I think I found what was going on. Let's go." He attempts to emulate what he did, despite not feeling the same without the hypercar in front of him.

The engine settles into a smooth, even purr. Bobby drops the hood, rolls his shoulders once, and eases back into the driver’s seat.

Jax

Jax

There he goes. Show him what that line looks like from inside.

Bobby feeds in the clutch and brings the car forward with a clean, controlled pull. The nose points, the rear follows, and the chassis takes the turn without a fight.

King

King

That transfer is cleaner than the last run. He is not forcing the car, he is timing it.

The tires whisper across the lane, then hook. Bobby’s line holds exact, and the finish markers slide past in a blur that feels slower than the race.

King

King

There. Right there, that is the release point.

King steps closer to the fender, ears angled forward, studying the pause in Bobby’s hands like it is the final piece of a diagram.

King

King

Do that once more, and I think I have it.

Bobby nods. This, at least, he believes he can repeat.

Bobby gives a small nod from the driver’s seat, and the car answers with a smooth, obedient creep. The front end settles exactly where he aims it.

King

King

Again, that same timing. He is not fighting the chassis, he is placing it.

The rear follows in a clean arc. No tire bark, no stumble, just a precise line that kisses the markers and holds.

Jax

Jax

There it is. That is the move.

King’s head tilts, then he reaches out and points to the exact point where Bobby lets the car rotate.

King

King

That release is earlier than I expected. The whole car settles because of it.

Bobby repeats it once more, and this time the line comes even cleaner. A faint click from the lane lights reflects off the bodywork as the markers slide by in order.

King

King

Yes. That is it. I have it now.
