Zoey slips out of the cockpit and into the interface chamber. The master control node hums under the floor, blue light pulsing through a ring of exposed ports and armored conduits.

Hatch is still holding. I can see the corridor lights. Not good.

Mara braces by the hatch with the data-pad in one hand, then shoves it toward Zoey. The node’s access collar flickers with a locked routing prompt, asking for a manual override signature.

The core is waiting for a local override, not a full hack.

A hard ping rolls through the chamber from somewhere deeper in the station. The corridor lights outside the hatch stutter red, then white, then red again.

That’s not dock traffic. That’s him getting close.

Zoey drops to the control ring and slots her deck into the node. The chamber answers with a sharp chirp, and the master control system opens a live path to the departure grid. One clean override here, and Dock Nine stops being a cage.

"Whelp, might as well use this now." Zoey grabs the data-pad from Mara and jams it into the override slot.

Zoey yanks the data-pad from Mara’s grip and drives it into the waiting slot. The collar clamps shut with a metallic snap, and the node drinks the pad’s contents in a flash of cold blue light.

The access ring brightens, lines of route data rippling outward across the floor grating. Somewhere above the chamber, the maintenance hatch alarm keeps chirping, thin and relentless.

It took it. Zoey, the grid’s opening.

A status panel on the node flips from locked routing to departure authorization. Outside the hatch, the corridor lights stop stuttering for one sharp second, then surge red again.

That ping got louder. We do not have much time.

Blue route lines race up the chamber wall and lock onto a launch corridor marker. The transport interface answers with a clean, hard tone, as if the station itself is deciding whether to let them go or seal them in.
