The greenhouse settles into a shaky calm, leaves trembling under the new rhythm in the roots. Purple stands at the glowing stone, shadow flickering around her hands, and points past the clear walls toward the dead horizon.

We cannot hide here and call it healing. The Earth is still dying outside these walls.

Orange stays close to Green, watching her face with quiet concern. Yellow and Blue hold their places by the frame, listening as the light under the soil pulses once, like an answer waiting to be carried.

This oasis is only a beginning. If the living thread reaches farther, then one of us has to go with it.

The hidden vein brightens beneath Green’s hand, then stretches toward the cracked seam at the greenhouse edge. Beyond the glass, the wasteland lies pale and airless, a direct path into the wider world.

Green’s request hangs in the warm light, plain and steady. The greenhouse goes quiet enough to hear the roots whisper under the soil.

Then we go as a group. No one carries this alone.

I stay with Green. If the path bites back, I want to be the one it hits first.

I’ll take the rear and watch for trouble. We do not lose the garden now.

I hold the frame until we leave, then I come with you and keep the line steady.

Purple places two fingers to the glowing stone, and the decision settles through the room like a held breath finally released. The cost lands too, quiet but real, Green’s hand goes numb from the vein’s pulse, and the rootlight dims a shade as if spending itself on the promise.

Outside the cracked wall, the wasteland waits under hard pale daylight. Inside, the group stands together, no longer divided by the edge of the world.

I set out with the others
